Help-I think somethings wrong

I had an abdominal hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. Immediately I had problems urinating, terrible pain (that I still have). Four days after surgery I had a bowel movement. I almost passed out from the pain. I began to swell in my lower abdomin and my pubic area. My doctor ignored me and told me I was fine. Two days later (9 days after surgery) I was sitting in my bed and I leaned forward slightly to pet the dog and my incision split open and fluid and blood went everywhere, it was a mess. My incision is still partially open and it is still draining. The doctor said it was a seroma. Now I have developed diarrhea and I still have painful bowel movements. I am concerned there may be something wrong with my bowel, bowel obstruction for example. I have also been running a low grade temperature since my surgery,99.7-100.2.

I'm worried, I think something is wrong too. When you said you have a low-grade temperature, I became even more concerned.

I think you need to go into the ER. They will contact your doctor. It will be like getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion, which would make me feel better, if I were in your shoes.

I'm hardly an expert. None of these things have happened to me since surgery. But if they had, you bet I'd be somewhere quick demanding answers and urgent care.

I hope you're okay and I'm just being my usual worry-too-much self. I'll look for an update!

i'm sorry youre having problems. obviously you need to either go to the emergency room or call your dr. my dr said anything over 100 is a fever so i dont think yours is a problem but only your dr can tell you that.

Cover your bases immediately

If I were you, I would go seek out medical attention immediately. I am not a dr or in the medical field at all. However, you could get a horrible infection from your open wound. The fever sounds like you are headed in that direction now as we speak. If your dr is ignoring this situation, go to the hospital to the e/r. Someone needs to examine your wound, and possibly give you a wet pack where your incision is open, and oozing. That is not normal, and it is not normal for a dr to tell a patient to ignore it.

You only have one body. Take care of it. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I wish you only the best.

Blessings Galore,

Help-I think somethings wrong

I had a hematoma develop in and around my incesion area exactly one week after my surgery. Thankfully my DH had not left for work when I walked into the bathroom with blood going every where. He called 911 and I was taken to the ER. I was scared to death.

After the ER Dr saw me he called my Dr. (who is located in building next to the hospital) and he had the ER staff send me to his office and he put me ahead of everyone in the waiting room. For one week the open area was packed twice a day. My DH was wonderful doing this..I am very thankful that it was pain free.

Healing was taking place, but not as quickly as the Dr had hoped . So one week ago yesterday I went back into surgery (15 min procedure) and he cleaned the area out and found some clots and removed them and put in a JP drain tube. The drain tube was removed this past Friday and yesterday I had the staples taken out.

Am I nervous about it..yes I am. Once something like that happens it sets you back physicially and emotionally. But my Dr is watching it very closely as well as my husband.

As some have suggested, if you're carrying a temp I would go to ER.

Sending you prayers. Please keep us posted.

Help-I think somethings wrong

I see my doctor every 3 days because my incision split open. I don't have much confidence in my doctor since he repeatedly told me I was fine and then my incision split open and blood and fluid went everywhere. I have made him aware of my problems and he just tells me I am fine. But I keep developing new symptoms. I went to the hospital last Tuesday night and they just gave me pain medicine and antibiotic through an IV. That is what my surgeon told them to do.

My doctor said to call if I had a temperature of 101 or higher.

Do you have another doctor you can see apart from your surgeon? This just doesn't sound good. I didn't have an abdominal, but withmy LSH I had a little tiny skin infection at the belly button site (around the suture) and they (regular MD) put me on antibiotics just for something that small. My point is, yours is much more serious (not to scare you), but it seems you need some treatment NOW.
All the best

Go to emerge! An open incision will get infected, and sounds like it is. I am not a Dr either, but common sense tells me that isn't normal !! Go Girl !!
