Well, just got home yesterday from the castle. I am wondering if there is a different sleep position (besides propped on pillows on my back). I have had lower back sugery twice and hate to put so much pressure on that area. I've tried a bit on my side, but I get nervous about my incision - it's a vertical from b. button to Pubic bone.
Thanks for you help.

Did your doctor warn you not to sleep on your side? No one cautioned me about that and I had a vertical incision 12" long, starting a couple of inches above my navel; I slept on my side from Day One. I'd think that if you weren't warned not to do it, you'd be okay on your side.

Maybe you could sleep on your side and place pillows strategically so that you don't roll.

perhaps putting some pillows under your tummy (and around your back so you don't roll,) will help to support your tummy?
I had a hip to hip cut last week and find lying on my side quite painful still.

Good Luck .

I couldn't sleep on my side for about 3-4 weeks but I have a horizontal incision. Not sure how different the vertical one would be in this regard.

I was able to sleep on my left side for about a week earlier than I could on my right. A pillow under my belly helped a lot at first.

I had an full incision from naval to pubic area. I sleep on my back in hospital. 5 days later at home I was able to sleep on my right side, not left. Last week I finally was able to get comfortable on left side also. So I would say it took 3 weeks post op to get comfortable side sleeping.

I can not sleep on my back -- -- so used a body pillow and was able to get on my side --

just tucked it a little tighter against my tummy and had my leg on top of it .

I found a maternity pillow online that are 2 kidney-shaped pillows that are attached by velcro in the middle. I slept in the middle and if I turned either way I always had one in front and one in behind me for support. I was never fully on my stomach and never fully on my back. They were such a godsend! Now am 3 months out I don't need them as much but it definitly helped and were so comfy. They were machine washable and had handles on the edges to carry them. I didn't want the long body pillow and this worked out fine.
