It's because of "Dirty Jobs', isn't it? :)

I had a TAH (kept the ovaries) last Friday and have felt really good ever since....up until today, that is. I've been taking little walks outside and naps every day. I've had very little pain (unless I go to sit down or stand up).

Last night, my hubby and I watched "Dirty Jobs" and there were several scenes where I had to laugh...and all us girls here knows how bad it can hurt when you laugh. It did hurt at the time but I couldn't help myself.

Now this morning, at around 2 AM, I woke up with little shooting pains in my abdomen. I did manage to get back to sleep but when I got out of bed today, my back (from my shoulder blades to my butt) and my front feel all black and blue and sore. Do you think this came from over-doing it yesterday? I'm concerned because up until this morning, I've felt great.

ha ha ha, I've been watching Dirty Jobs too!! That's too funny. Unfortunately, laughter is NOT the best medicine after a hysterctomy.

That's probably what's going on, Stacy. Laughing does require alot of abdominal activity. So does coughing and sneezing which I'm doing plenty of these days with this flu/cold bug I have. I have the same symptoms as you. I can wake up almost pain free but as soon as I start coughing and sneezing, the pain comes back and gets worse throughout the day.

Maybe you shouldn't be watching Dirty Jobs for awhile? It sure feels good to laugh but there certainly is a price to pay.

Are you sure it isn't because you were turned on by that hottie Mike Rowe? lol. Sigh, my TV boyfriend. I saw a Dirty Jobs marathon while in the hospital and had to turn it off due to nausea.

Hope you're feeling better.

Mine was 'Scrubs'... I had about 5 Tivo'ed and watched them earlier in my recovery. My brother came over and told me it was too painful to watch me watch it... he said they should use it for torture... OUCH!

I had just bought scrubs season 6 on dvd right before my surgery and watched it when I got home. Very funny stuff.

I recommend sitting with a pillow on your stomach, and when you start to laugh hold the pillow really tight, I find that helps My super squishy pillow is my best friend these days ...

I love watching Dirty Jobs, too. Don't tell me we all have to share Mike... LOL

As for laughing, sneezing, coughing, it's the WORST. I've had a few surprise sneezes and I end up yelling from the pain. I have to stay away from email jokes because they're too darn funny lately.

I can't wait to laugh again without pain!

As for Mike Rowe.... I guess we can share (wink).

We laugh a LOT in my family so a small pillow came in real handy. My downfall was America's Funniest Videos. If it hadn't been for that pillow, I couldn't have watched that show!
