Post-Op and Ulcerlative Colitis

Hi there,
I'm now 4 weeks post-op from a TVH and am feeling all right. I've had ulcerlative colitis for 7yrs now. It's been in and out of remission and when I went in for surgery, it was borderline.
Since the surgery, it's been pretty good. which I was surprised because usually after having an anestetic, it will stir things up.
So I'm wondering if there is anyone out there in the same situation and what the outcome has been for you.

Thanks.

Cheeky,

Hey! Yep, I have U/C also and noticed that I had the same surgery date as you did - 10/15. I had a TAH/BSO, and I have had nothing but bowel issues ever since. Simply unbelievable, and I'm wondering if the U/C is all going to start up again full force.

I had 18 BM's my first two days home and ended up opening a few stitches.
Life hasn't been fun.

Hoping you are much better off than I've been! I don't think the intestines enjoyed being shifted all around during my abdominal.

Post-Op and Ulcerlative Colitis

I've had U/C since 1983. Since my surgery I've only had two bouts of not being able to stray far from the bathroom. Its unbelievable! Of course, I'm not at work, either So my stress level is much less.

I've been wondering if endometriosis has something to do with U/C

Whatever the reason, I'm grateful!

[FONT=Comic Sans MS]Hey Funkia,
I was wondering if there was some link to colitis and endo as well. I asked my gastro dr. and she said 'no'. But she also said that diet and stress has nothing to do with the UC either, which for me is not true. There are foods (wheat/gluten) that I can't eat and when my body is stressed, oh boy!
Right now, my UC is the best it's been in a long time. Perhaps no uterus in there working over the colon?
I guess we'll see after I head back to work in 2 wks (that will give me a full 6wks recovery).
Take care.
