please pray for poop

I had TVH, rectocele, and some kind of vaginal attachment/ support done. I have so much pain in my tailbone and bottom, the dr said from where she reattached ligaments/tendosn and such.

Anyway, the real problem is I have not pooped. I have eaten regular food since surgery and been taking stool softners and miralx was prescribed even in the hospital. I feel like I have a big corn cob stuck up my butt. There is so much pressure but so evidence of stool just every once in a while when i am lucky I pass a little gas. I almost feel like my bottom will not relax to let anything even a little air pass. I feel like I want to bear down but cannot because it is so painful and dr said not to bear down because of the healing of new attachments...

I guess i was just wondering if anyone can tell me I am okay and these feelings are normal. i have walked and am drinking tons of water, tried coffee and raisins...I feel like I am doing everything right so why will it not happen?

Thanks for being here for me.

have you tried milk of magnesia? it sounds like you need to soften things up and even though you are doing everything right, its just not happening. you'll probably feel so much less pressure once you can go. a big dose of MOM should really help.

Hi Ladydi, When you describe what is going on it reminds me of my hemorroidectomy. That is so painful. I sure hope you get relief. I was in such a bad way that I did a fleet enima and shouldn't have. The doctor yell at me. It helped get things going but made it very sore and could of ripped my stitches. I don't recommend that. I was in such a bad way. I know how you feel. I wonder if the doc. can give you some suggestions to help make it easier and get it going. I'll be praying for you. God Bless you. Kathy

Am I right that this is only the 3rd, day after your hyster? I never had a BM until the 5th day after. I took milk of Magnesia so I could go. You might need something like that. I hope you get relief soon because I know how I suffered from not going. Good luck and you are in my thoughts and prayers

please pray for poop

Hey Girls, I just had a colon resection for colon cancer. I pray for poop everyday. I feel your pain! LOL The books on cancer say to mix 1/3 cup stewed prunes, 1/3 cup applesauce and 1/3 cup of unprocessed wheat bran (health food store) and take 1 to 2 tablespoons each night with a bottle of water. I do this daily and so far so good. It doesn't taste as bad as it sounds. I also put the wheat bran in my cream of wheat every morning to give it more fiber. I am constipated because I still take iron. Also had a hyst in June and have been anemic for months. Try this and see if it works. Good luck! tobasco39 p.s. get your colonoscopy

in order to poop -- you have to have something to get rid of --
did you do a bowel prep before surgery? then your bowels were empty -- except for the gas ( ha ha)
how much have you ate since surgery? what are you eating?

try eating prunes -- ACTIVA yogurt --

please pray for poop

I had some rectal/bladder repair with my LAVH/BSO and the only pain that I have experienced has been in my rectum. I still have trouble sitting for any length of time and my surgery was over 2.5 weeks ago. I also had severe gas and pressure for several days. I ended up taking stool softeners plus Metamucil to help keep me going. Try and relax when you have the urge to go. Breath deep over and over again to help relax your muscles. And don't forget to drink lots of fluids. It may take a couple of days for your first poop so be patient.

I know how you feel I also had my surgery 2.5 wk ago and I am having the same problem. I am taking stool softners and oatmel 3 times a day you need to at least get 10gm of fiber daily, this has helped me get some relief and help with BM. My Dr. has put me on a low fiber/ low residue diet which has helped keep gas at a minimum. If you need info on the diet let me know.

please pray for poop

Thank you. Yes it is only 3 days post op but the only prep I was requested to do was a fleet's enema the night before surgery. Even the morning of surgery I felt some bloating and like if I would have waited a few hours or had some coffee I would have pooped quite a bit.

Also, I went straight back onto solid regular food immediately post op. No resrictions. So, I actually only think missed a couple meals and then ate just small amounts the next couple.

I definitely have something to poop. I have had a little progress in thee night here. I am just so blessed that normally I have no poopy problems, eat tons of fiber and drink huge amounts of water. I am not used to any of the bloating, pressure and pain I am now experiencing. It is driving me up a torture. I tried relieving some of the pressure by getting on my habds and knees. For some reason this really helped when I was very big and pregnant. It did help and relaxed some of the muscles and gave some relief.

I appreciate all of your posts and will get some mom and also try the prune mixture. Also, thanks for the info on your areas of discomfort and also not to use a fleets...I was really considering it but felt like it was a bad idea.

I also had just the fleet anema the nite before so I was full of poo also. I took the MOM at nite and also I put in a fleet sup. the next morning to help it out and it worked. Remember to take the stool softeners until you feel confortable not taking them...that is what my Dr. told me anyway. Hope you are getting relief today.
