Vaginal cuff bleeding - anyone else?

Well I had a TAH on Oct 9th and two weeks ago I began only what I can best describe as a Period ! I called the dr because it is My understanding that I should not have a period !! I have NO uterus and NO cervix !! I was informed it was NOrmal and it was the vaginal cuff ( by his secratary after she spoke to him ) and he called in an antibiotic . Well that was 2 weeks ago.

Literally this is like a period . Cramps and ALL!! I hate it and I dont feel good and I have called back and I only get the secratary , I am not scheduled to see the Dr unitl the 26th.

If it is NORMAL then why do I need an antibiotic?which mind you is inserted vaginally and what good is that doing if I am Bleeding ? I am normally anemic so I am assuming this isn't helping . MY mother has Von willabrands Disease and I haven't talked to this Dr about it , because I thought I had been tested for it , come to find out I was NOT tested Properly so we don't even KNow if I have VWB or NOT . UGHHH

I also recently went through Oral cancer in the last 9 months and I am getting really discouraged medically . I met NO risk factors there either I just feel so young to be going through all this . Has any one else had bleeding from the vaginal cuff and how do they stop it ?

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. Problems with the vaginal cuff are not uncommon and many ladies require treatment with silver nitrate <link> Cuff - granulation - cauterization which usually solves the situation - assuming that's what it is, however.

I hope some ladies will be along to share their experiences but, in the meantime, it may be a good idea to try to be seen as soon as you can - to find out exactly what's going on?

I hope things improve very soon and will you let us know what you find out? Take care!

If I were you, I would insist on being seen by the doc sooner than your scheduled appointment, if only for the peace of mind.

As far as the antibiotic suppository goes, as long as it's not coming out (being passed), then it's being absorbed by your body and the bleeding won't interfere with it's purpose.

Good luck!!
