I'd like to take a bath

Rats. I forgot to call the doc today to check if I could soak in the tub. I'm three weeks post op and would really like to have a good soak.

Has anyone been given the ok for that? At what point?

I'd like to take a bath

I am only a little over two weeks TAH and at check-up doctor said I still have to take showers and only let soapy water run over incision. They already removed my staples. And, I forgot to ask when I could take a bath. I am going to call next week. I would really like a bath too!

I'd like to take a bath

I had a TAH on 10/15, and I'm still not allowed baths...and I'm dying for one. I'm so sore, and it would feel awesome to soak.

I think the general consensus on here is also what I was told by my Dr. NO BATHS for at least 6 weeks! Both because of the incision issues and also vaginal infections.

I'd like to take a bath

My surgery was on 11-01 it was a TAH, and my dr. said I could take a bath the day I was discharged. I guess all dr.s are different.

I'd like to take a bath

Hey:

I had my 2 week post op yesterday (Supracervical abdominal hyst on 10/29) and the doctor told me I COULD take baths. My incision is healing fine, no staples or steri strips anymore. I shower so soaking in a bath wasn't a question I asked about - but he said I could.

Hope this helps. I would make sure to dry off your incision with dabbing it then blow drying it on a low setting. This way no water settles in. I guess if you don't put tons of bubbles or other things in the water, the chance of infection would be slim. I'm not 100%. Good luck.

I'd like to take a bath

Come to think of it, my doc said no swimming for at least six weeks. I teach swimming lessons and she was worried about infections and hefting sinking kids. I suspect my tub is much cleaner than a gym's pool but I'll be good and just let the water run until it turns cold.

I'd like to take a bath

This is so interesting. I'm in the UK and I didn't get any advice on baths, I never thought to ask...I had one the day after I came home after TAH/BSO with staples, probably not the wisest thing to do but I've been fine so far!
