I am scared of hormone changes... Help

I am 35 and on Tuesday i had a tvh. I got to keep my ovaries! yeah! But i am very sensitive to progestrone and any lack of it. Has anyone had hormone problems with their ovaires in tact? If so are you on hrt? what kind? Or what did you did you do to help? Thanks for all wisdom you can share with me.

I am scared of hormone changes... Help

Hi msimmonspribil
I kept my ovaries too and experienced some fluctuation after my hyst. This is very common right at first so try not to worry too much if you find that you are too. The ovaries often go into shock because of the loss of blood flow from the uterus. They usually adjust and do fine. I hope that will be the case for you too.

To answer your other question, I found that over time I have needed to add hrt. I'm a lot older than you and dealing with the beginnings of natural menopause. I chose to use bioidentical hrt which have included progesterone. If you find in time that your ovaries tire out and struggle to keep up with your needs I think you can find a dr who will help you find a balance again using hrt if you would like. I don't know your whole situation and it's always important to have the help of your dr on that.

I will also add that I think it's wise for all women to read up on this important subject so we can know what we want and don't want. Doctors have many different persuasions on the subject. I have a wonderful dr, but didn't really agree with his first recommendation for me. He was willing to let me try what I wanted and that is what I have continued to use. If I hadn't done my homework I would have been completely unable to think for myself on the subject.

Good luck to you on this. You're very early post op and need to give your ovaries a little time to adjust. I hope it works out well for you.

Thank you preciouspearl!

I really appreciate your comment. I am taking natural progestrone and estrogene. My body is very sensitive to hormone changes. Your note was encouraging and now I can feel a bit better knowing that if I do sense a change it is temporary. I will make sure that i do not miss a dose!!!
