Pre-surgical consult

I spoke with a pre-surgical nurse last night and she questioned me about my medical history, medications I'm taking and gave me instructions for the day of the surgery. No liquid diet the day before (yay!), stop eating or drinking after midnight the night before, shower with antibacterial soap the morning of, and put nothing on but clothes (no lotions, deodorant, perfume, nail polish....nothing!) I can take my high blood pressure meds in the a.m. but not my anti-depressants.

I feel better having had this conversation and now I'm oddly excited (or is it just nervous energy) to go and get this over with!

I'm glad you're feeling better. Don't be surprised to find you emotions still changing day to day right up until the big day. I felt like crying the day before, but was really calm the morning of my surgery. Do something fun for yourself if you have time.

My pre-consult went the same way - yay no bowel prep to deal with. Because my surgery isn't until after 2 p.m. I can have clear liquids until 8 a.m. - otherwise I could get pretty dehydrated! Check with Dr's orders first!
