Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

Has anyone else had gallbladder issues since their hysterecotmy? I am probably looking at surgery to remove mine and in telling folks my tales of woe........I have come across three other people who also had to have theirs removed not long after their hysterectormy. Coincidence?

Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

I had mine out ages ago but usually they act up after a big weight loss. Something about not eating enough fat and then having a fatty meal causes the bile to do something.
Were you eating extremely low fat right after your hysterectomy?
If you keep having attacks you can get some little pills prescription that work wonders to take at the first twinge of an attack.
They also told me to stay away from a higher fat meal. Pizza, turkey dinners. You know all the good stuff LOL

Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

I had a horrid attace in Oct 0f '06. Of course, I didn't follow up with my doc. Fast forward to Oct '07 and my surgeon found a 3 CM gallstone while rooting around in my upper abdomen. I'm calling Monday to schedule surgery for its removal. Not looking forward to it but it needs to be done.

Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

Ms Frankie - I had mine out 9 yrs ago. They did it laporoscopy and it was a piece of cake. Mine was awful also. The surgeon at Mayo Clinic said it was just full of gallstones - about the worst he ever saw and they were still able to get it without an incision.

Good Luck and hopefully for you it will be much easier than the hyst.

Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

Highlandsunsets I can totally relate to what your experience. I had a TAH-BSO on November 5th. Whenever I woke up from the anesthesia, I was having a horrible stabbing pain in my upper abdomen. The doctor told me that he thought I was having a gallbladder attack -- but I had never had problems with it before! I am still having problems with it 2 weeks into recovery however, I am really paying attention to my diet. I have no idea if this is common but it definately happened to me. Have you heard anything else about this?

Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

I've had off and on gallbladder issues since becoming pg w/my 1st child. Since having my TLAVH-BSO I've been having quite a time off and on w/it as well. I have a good friend who just had her's out about a month ago after a drastic weight loss and I'm having the same symptoms that she was just prior to having it out.

I really don't want to undergo another surgery, but I'm getting real sick of the constant belching, gas, stomach pains, acid in the back of my throat, bloating, full feeling right after drinking anything or eating, etc.

All the best to you!!!

Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Yes, I have been trying to watch my fat intake since surgery but it is not working. No significant weight loss. As a matter of fact, if I stand sideways and you look at me on both sides, the right side of my upper abdoman and my belly is enlarged. As if swelly belly wasn't enough!

I did some research last night and found an interesting thing out. Apparently, one of the possible side effects of Premarin (or any HRT) is a chance of gallbladder disease. And so it goes.....

I'll keep you all posted. I am trying to get an ultrasound scheduled fo next week but with the holiday, who knows.

Gallbladder problems after hysterecotomy?

I had a TAH on Oct. 15. Every since then I've been having problems with gallbladder also. The pains are in the right uppper chest area which seems to be under the right breast area and upper back torso. The pains go on for hours and up to 12 hrs. Heat pad or ice pack does not help. I just have to wait it out. I've heard and try 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a cup of apple juice works. It does relieve the pain but only a little. This seems to happen after I've had a big meal and usually when that meal happens to be in a restaurant. So I've cut way down on food and usually only eat 1/2 meal and that seems to do the trick so far.
