20 weeks

My uterus was the size of a 20 week pregnancy due to huge fibroids. Belly was swollen and I was in lots of pain.

Wow I thought thats what it meant but wasn't quite sure. I am so glad mine wasn't like that. Dr. found a fibroid tumor but it was in the lining of my uterus and thats what was causing all my bleeding but no pain. Hope all is better now. Have a great weekend!!!!!!

Yes I wasn't lucky in the kind of surgery I had to have. I guess my body was on overdrive as far as the fibroids went. I was hoping to have a vaginal hysterectomy but the fibroids went on a growing spurt! I did have a choice as to keep my ovaries though. I figured I'd keep them and they could shut down on their own. Although they went wacky for a couple of weeks after my TAH, they just had to wake up I guess. I am so glad I had the surgery I feel so much better and NO more periods, that in it's self was well worth it!

Tugging and Pulling pain near ovaries

I am doing pretty good. Went to post op Monday the 26th and Dr. said I was healing good. But she still gave me a dose of silver nitrate on my internal stitches on my vaginal cuff. Those are the only internal stitches I have and she said they should have been dissolving and they weren't yet. So other then that and the tugging and pulling pain every once in awhile I feel pretty good. Still get tired by the end of the day though. So hopefully by the 10th I will be able to start back to my exercising because I really miss that. Thanks so much for asking.

tugging & pulling

I too had to have the silver nitrate, because that wasn't healing as fast as the rest of me. As for the tugging and puling I had that too. I still have those feelings around where my ovaries are and it was a year in Sept. for me. I am wondering if it's just the fact that there is more room in me and they have more room instead of being in there with my uterus like they were at one time? Mine seem to get worse in the middle of the night and have to pee really bad or in the morning if I haven't been up to the bathroom throughout the night. Who the heck knows why....

Tugging and Pulling pain near ovaries

Hey gals....I am now over the 4 month mark. It takes time so be patient. My doc told me two weeks ago to expect discomfort for the next 9 months of sorts especially if you try and over do it) He also said that when the incision on the outside turns white that the insides are healed...makes total sense to me. Relax, live good and try to heal healthily....Cris

cherryblossom-
Do you exercise? Are you in any pain any more? What kind of discomfort was your doc referring to?

I would to know what's up ahead!!

2 yrs after

ohh..yes..the tugging sensation! Yep..had that on both sides of the ovaries where they were probably attached. One side was worse...and today is 2 yrs post. and on occassion I still get a "funny" twinge in that area. Phantom pain and the tugging were pretty much part of the recouperation for me and I even questioned the doc at ck up time.....as I wanted to be sure there was not something wrong of course. (Anyone not sure needs to ASK)!! It got better with time for me. Too much activity did make it more noticeable during the first year...but not a real problem. Everyone heals differently...but I can offer that at 2 year mark...I almost forgot about this until reading this post! It is a reminder of what the body has endured I guess.
Cheers and a Happy Healthy Recovery to all...and good health primarily!
