How long does the nausea last?

I had a supracervical lap hys on the 12th. I've had bouts of nausea ever since. I'm on an anti-nausea script and it makes me feel like I did when I was pregnant (I had HG when I was pregnant). If I happen to forget to take my meds I know it immediately as I start getting the feeling that I'm going to vomitt. Not a pleasant thought. I spent the evening of surgery vomitting and it hurt so bad. I go this week for my post op appt and plan on letting the doc know if I'm still having it when I go.

I just thought it would have subsided by now. I didn't have anything like this with either of my other two surgeries (though they were c/s).

How long does the nausea last?

I am over 2 weeks out and I still get bouts of nausea, but it is getting better. The less pain I am in the better I feel with the nausea. But, absolutely let the doc know.

How long does the nausea last?

Husky -

I didn't have it after my hyst but after my 2nd surgery. I think for me its hormonal. It was the worst the 3-5 days after surgery and lessened from there but occasionally I still have waves hit me (though not so scary now since I'm healed).

I found pepermint tea (hot or room temp) helped a great deal.

xoxo, thank you. Sorry you are experiencing it as well. I'm not in that much pain other than my left side but it's heavily bruised and has the bigger incision. I plan to talk to them about it at my appt.

bettyboop1972, sorry you are experiencing it too. I take the anti-nausea meds but they make me extremely sleepy which is good at night but not so fun during the day when I'd like to be a little more awake and alert.

laughnowcrylatr, thank you. Sorry you dealt with it as well. I'm not much of a peppermint person nor drink much tea other than a glass or two of ice tea in the summer. It just hurts to even think about vomiting...guess because I remember having to do it Monday evening and it was the absolute worse pain in my stomach. However I think that night it was a combination of pain meds, anesthesia, the gas from the surgery in the belly, and not having anything to eat for so long. They gave me demoral and that always makes me sick but I didn't know they were giving it to me until I was already upstairs in my room. Bad thing it didn't do anything for the pain except relieve it for about 10 minutes.
