Staple removal tomorrow morning

Does anyone have any advice regarding staple removal? I've heard that it can be very painful. Some of my staples have pulled so much that I actually have slits instead of tiny holes. Does it really help to take a pain pill before going to appt?

I was very worried about the staple removal, because the area was so sore and red. But they came out really easy, the dr didn't even do it, he had his nurse, and it took about 5 minutes. I did take a percocet before going tho That was my experience tho...take care!

Staple removal tomorrow morning

Last Thursday I went in to the gyn's to have my drain removed. It wasn't. However, I did have several staples removed. I hardly felt a thing. She was done before I even knew she began. Now, these staples were at the top of my incision. They were no where near my infection or any of the trouble spots.

I am having my drain removed tomorrow, and hopefully some staples. I am not sure if I will be given a wet pack or not. It depends on how my healing is going.

Blessings all around,

I can honestly say I didn't feel a thing. If you try a "forum search" (click right on the main page of this forum) I think you'll find the majority of ladies have said the same in their posts!

Hope your recovery is going well and try not to worry too much!

I don't have staples with my hys incision but I did with my first c/s. I was scared and nervous about having them removed as I thought it was going to hurt. It didn't. I had one or two pinch when they were coming out but that was it. I hardly knew they were being removed. I don't remember if I took a pain pill before I went or not. If I did it was just a Tylenol #3 (as that was what I was given for pain....they tried to give me Lorcet but I knew better than to take that as it makes me very ill).

I had over 20 of them and some of them just pinched a little. Nothing to rate on a pain scale, at all. But, it really helped that I took oxi right before I left the house for the appt, so I was relaxed. And,it helped with the car ride too!

22 staples here. It didn't hurt at all. Just a little pinch a couple of times but not painful. It felt good to have them out, one less thing to be concerned about.

I notice that alot of the area immediately around my incision is numb. Maybe that has something to do with why it didn't hurt?

34 staples here. I didn't take a painkiller before the appointment and had one sensitive, bleeding area in the incision; the removal was a breeze. It took 5 minutes; didn't hurt at all. Don't worry.

The thought of getting them out was way worse then getting them out. I did take my painkiller before leaving my house........mostly to calm my nerves. Mine did not hurt just felt a slight tugging on the skin.

No need to worry.......all the other things you have gong through in the few weeks have hurt you way worse.

Well, it's over! I went today for the staple removal. It really was a breeze with only a couple pinching just a very teeny amount (not even enough to say it hurt). Thank God that's over - one step closer to feeling like myself again. It's amazing how much better I feel already. There is less pulling and tugging at the incision.
