Hi Saadia! Just reading everything you did yesterday wore me out. What kind of surgery did you have? I hope you are still feeling good today, but please please be careful!

I'm so blessed to have had my husband at home since my surgery. He admittedly has gotten on my nerves some. I refer to him as my "guard dog," but I so appreciate him taking care of me. He's an awesome cook, so unlike most of you....I haven't lost any weight! The strange thing is that I was admitted for surgery on a Tues am, came home on Friday evening weighing 9 1/2 lbs more than when I went in! That 9 1/2 lbs has since come off though. It must have been the swelling.

My biggest blister that was above my incision broke in the night last night, and oh my gosh, I feel 10 X better today! That blister must have been where most of the pain was coming from the last several days. It was nearly the size of a golf ball.

Contessa, my co-workers visited this week with food, and had me laughing so hard that it was PAINFUL! Ha, I had to make them stop. Coughing and laughing still hurt, but are manageable now.

I can relate to those of you with bladder issues in the night. I need to get up several times during the night to pee. Getting up is more of an effort though after I've been lying down so most times I lay there and put it off way too long. I'm going to ask my doctor on Monday what that is all about. I never had that issue prior to surgery, rarely even had to get up at all during the night to potty.

Like you, Contessa, I've yet to leave my house since coming home. I plan to do that this weekend though. Am getting antsy, especially since I feel so good this morning.

Wishing you all a wonderful day and happy, relaxing weekend!

Hi Marmee - I'm an RN who is recovering from a TAH w/ everything out but the kitchen sink - the blisters you have are probably a result of the adhesive from the tape, which a lot of folks have problems with. Should you ever end up back in the hospital, tell them you need paper tape versus cloth tape and that should prevent the blisters. Alternatively they could wrap kerlix (gauze in a roll) around the bandages to hold them in place. Anything OTC that works on a burn will help your blistered areas feel better - just no home remedies like butter!

So sweet of you to respond HokieRN! That's valuable information that I will definitely remember.

Sounds like you had exact same surgery as I did, one day before me. How are you doing in your recovery? How long did your doctor say before you can return to work?

I'm keeping my darling grandsons tonight. They are 3 yo and 18 mos. I'm so excited, but a bit nervous too, as the 18 mon old is not going to understand Marmee not being able to pick him up. I have Poppa here to help though, which is a blessing! I hope you have someone helping you through this.

XOXOX - Stacey

OMGosh, Please take it easy! My dr said do not lift ANYTHING for 6-8 weeks, but definitely not heavier than a gallon of milk, which is 8 lbs.
You need to heal properly. You have lots of internal stitches as well.

I hope you get home real soon and blessed with a fast recovery.

I have been driving several days now. Just a few miles. LAVH on 11/19.
I'm also having the crampy feeling around my navel and left side.

I'm in Ga but the nearest DQ is 30 minutes away. That's a good thing because I can't get in my jeans!!!!

Hahha - Glad you guys liked that I went to Dairy Queen!! Those blizzards are yummy... and that Chik Strip Basket made me Happy! lol

I had my little pity party this morning, but am feeling better now. Fixing to eat some lunch. I feel physically pretty good today, so far.. Have the mild menstrual type crampiness, but it's not bad at all..

Home after three days in the castle. All went as expected. I was kept an extra day due to BP being too low. All in all pain was pretty tolerable. Home the first week went ok, although did not anticipate how painful the first bm was going to be....almost a week later!! Just glad it is over and can recover...although my head tells me I should be able to do more my body tells a different story! Rest and drink plenty of fluids to all the hysters out there! Will post more later.
