I took one one at the 4 week mark when the dr lifted most of my restrictions.. it was heavenly... but I didn't add bubbles. Though if you are healing on schedule they probably won't hurt.

Dr Duke
I am 3 weeks post-op from a LAVH. I have taken 3 baths since surgery. I know it was advised against, but I found it too difficult and tiring to stand in the shower. The bath relaxed me & was very therapeutic!!!! It also helped to loosen up the Derma bond used to seal my incision sites. I did not overly use any type of soap or bubble bath and had no adverse reactions to being in tub water.
I would however ask your doctor first. It's worth the phone call because it feels sooooo nice!!!!!
Hope this helps.
Happy Holidays!

"scheduled" hot flashes?

Hi everyone and happy holidays! I haven't posted very often but I read this thread like crazy - it is so-o-o-o- comforting to know other women are going through a lot of the same things I am. Sometimes I feel like a puppy - full of energy one minute and fast asleep the next.

I am not taking hormones, and I feel fine except I have a hot flash every night at 10 p.m.! It's almost like clockwork. Anyone else having this?

I had a mammogram and a dexa scan yesterday- I'm 39 but was diagnosed with osteoporosis six months before my hysterectomy. Since I don't have ovaries anymore, that's a problem that is only going to get worse unless I take HRT, which I would rather not do. Am taking Actonel now - wanted to try Boniva, but the insurance won't pay for it.

Many blessings to you all,
Shelly

I don't have any ovaries either and am not taking HRT. I have a blood-clotting disorder and can't take it. I've been taking Estroven which is an over the counter herbal remedy that works great for hot flashes and mood swings and it has extra calcium to boost. I really haven't had many hot flashes, more like hot flushes and they don't last long. Hang in there, from what I've been reading, taking HRT isn't such a great alternative in the long run.
Just an FYI to all....went to the doctor for my second checkup and I did the urine test which indicated I had a urinary tract infrection which explains all the pain I've been having! Since I've never had a urinary tract infection before, I had no idea the pain I was having urinating wasn't normal. If you're still in pain, it's worth it to ask your doctor about it. I've been on antibiotics for 2 days now and I feel so much better!

I'm so tired - I've got a cold, the worst I've had in years. All the coughing has made my poor swelly belly hurt so bad! It feels like I've been punched repeatedly. I'm also having a lot of discomfort because of the nerve damage on my belly about halfway between my incision and my navel. I'm moving around, but slowly.

I'm not on HRT either. I probably won't do it, at least in the near term. I want to be completely pain free and make sure that I don't have any recurring endo. I've also got ovarian remnants on my bowels, so I don't know if HRT would wake those up either. My hot flashes aren't bad, but still wake me up at night. The headaches are lessening, which is a wonderful relief.

I did fit into a pair of jeans this week, but after about an hour I had to get back into my lounge pants!

Contessa,
I'm glad you're feeling better. I have days when I feel just like you do!!
As far as the out of town guests: My advise to you is to delegate ALL the chores to YOUR RELATIVES!
They need to be aware that you have just been through MAJOR surgery & are not yet physically capable to play hostess. YOU need to take care of yourself and not over-do it!!
As your hyster-sister I am asking you to please pamper yourself and let your body heal.

Hi Elliedellie:
Iam grinning I mastered being pampered. Luckly I my stepfather helps me-he does all my errands, cook the whole 9 yards.
What helps sometimes I will walkout my bedroom in my robe without makeup-fraks them out. This is my first surgery and my family is not used to seeing inactive. Normally I will be out and about all glammed up. The funniest thing I gave way my huge supply of pads to my cousin. She was shocked and noticed I lost alot of weight. I am a tall thin person as it is, I lost 20 pounds since my surgery. Now Iam back to my size when I was inmy 20's. The good thing my sweet tooth is gone because I cant tolerate sugary stuff also I more sensitive to odors. Some perfumes I own I cant stand them anymore , some food odors bother me. My skin cleared up.
