Merry Christmas
I doing fine , my house is full. One thing I found odd when I arrived home from my doctor's appointment. The female members of my family didnt show any interest about my recovery or surgery. They all have children and the oddest thing they huddled in the kitchen among themselves shunning me all together. To break the ice I asked if they wanted to see how well Iam healing. They rolled their eyes at me and said I was not like them. I was stunned, Iam the only one in my family who had an hysterectomy. Iam not ashamed nor did my surgery made me less of a woman. My mom passed away 3 years ago plus Iam single, never married no children. In a nutshell I didnt let them get to me. Iam grateful to be alive and on the road of recovery.

Merry Christmas Crysalith:
My co workers called me to wish me Merry Christmas an hour ago.
They are working hard this morning--I was told there were alot of travelers yesterday. I work at the airport, had my first bubble bath last night and my restrictions are lifted by my Dr. I had my 2nd post op visit yesterday.
As for my family it's too bad, I will not let them ruin my recovery most of them will be leaving tomorrow.

Contessa - I don't understand what you mean that they said, 'You are not like us...' Did they say exactly that????? Makes no sense for such an odd comment. Oh, it would have been so easy to say something in retaliation, it's nice that you are taking the high road.

It's also very nice that your co-workers call you weekly. I only have ONE co-worker who has called a few times.. I work mostly with her.

My 6 wk post op check is Jan 2nd, and I'm supposed to go back to work on the same day.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Contessa,

All of us hystersisters are in the same boat as you. No more tampons, pads, period pain, etc... hooray!!!! We are still women, just luckier ones!!!!

I also had one co-worker to call and she the only one that has had a hysterectomy. Your relatives may have to go though the same thing one day and they will be calling you for advice. So don't take it to heart they just don't understand.

Enjoy the rest of the holidays and God bless you.

Happy Holidays!

Today is the 5-week mark for me, and I'm feeling pretty good. I've been moving around alot more than my friends and family like, and I'm a little sore, particularly around my incisions (had total lap-hyst). I've been going to work every day for the last 2 weeks, about an hour to hour and a half max each day, but even during the second week after surgery, i was working from home anyway. I'll do the same this week, beginning tomorrow, but then it's back to the regular schedule on January 3rd. I'm even performing with my band this week!

The only bothersome thing is that I feel slight twinges where my ovaries used to be, the same as they felt whenever my period was coming. I guess it's somewhat of a "phantom" pain. Anyone else without ovaries feel like they're still there?
