I don't think it's your wall heaters. I'm having hot flashes and night sweats as well as insomnia and I still have my ovaries. Could they still be in shock from the surgery?

Good Morning
This is my first morning I dint have my morning tummy discomfort woohoo!!! Yesterday I vsiited my cousin at teh hospital he had major surgery which will put into early retirement from the police force at the age of 37(he 8 years away from retirement. His recovery time is 10 months. The funny thing the first people I see when I walked into the hospital was my doctor an dhis medical student who assisted. They were commenting I look good-yesterdy was 7 weeks ago I had my TAH. Also my cousin had the same recovery room nurse. Afterwards I treated myself to fish and chips at Charlie brown steakhouse (forget I had a gift check) ,then I cleane dout my closets and drawers of clothes that are too big or outdated. I was wondering has anyoen else made big changes in their lives Post hysterectomy. I know I feel and look like a different person.

Tomorrow is my first day back to work. On Friday I went in to see the company doctor and get cleared to return. He asked if I had an abdominal incision and when I said yes he wrote TAH on my chart. I corrected him - I had an SAH and he had the audacity to argue with me about what kind of surgery I had, knowing only that it was an abdominal incision!

We went round and round awhile about it. I said that I had learned on a website (Hystersisters!) that my procedure was an SAH. He said the only websites that can be trusted are the Mayo Clinic and the National Institute of Health. and something about TAH vs SAH was all about keeping the fallopian tubes. He has no idea whether or not I kept my tubes! I finally just said, Okay, whatever. But I'm still really upset about it.

I confirmed on the NIH website that I did indeed have an SAH. Should I correct him and tell him how I feel? Or just roll my eyes and sigh that it's another idiotic thing men do?

Today Was My 1st Day Back to Work!

I am tired! I'm 7 weeks post op, have done quite a bit while off, but not working and running around for 8 hrs! I am a floor supervisor at a large dept. store. I am also in charge of the men's dept. Well, I picked the "heavy" leather jackets to work with today. Rearranging, dragging fixtures, etc. At about 2:30, I could have taken a nap, (I started at 9 am). I am totally exhausted. Thought I would share my experience with all of you before I crawl into bed. My co-workers were so kind. They kept yelling at me to stop all the lifting, and to slow it down. Of course I didn't listen.

That company doctor sounds like he doesn't know anything about hysterectomies. Sounds like you could talk until you are blue in the face and he will still said he's right.

I stay 12 hour shifts on the 21st. I hope I don't croak. I avoid doing any heavy lifting. My mom just had her second surgery to repair problems after her hyster so I'm trying not to miss things up. She did way to much after her surgery. It can take 6 months to a year to completely heal. So take it easy.

Thanks, DrDuke. My friends are also telling me to just let it go.

The first day back at work is going pretty well. The uncomfortable swelly belly started up this morning instead of its usual afternoon. I'm trying to walk around and not just sit at my desk. Sure miss that afternoon nap!

I am sooo irritable this evening and don't have any energy. Is it PMS (possible murder suspect as my daughter says) or menopause stuff. I bite my son and my daughter's heads off. I just feel like screaming. Is this happening to anyone else? I have one ovary.

It could definitely be the hormones. You probably need some chocolate!

It just occured to me that when we have two ovaries they ovulate on alternate months, taking turns. When there's just one ovary will it ovulate every month? Taking up the slack of the missing one, or just keep on its schedule of every other month?
