Question for "DrDuke"

If you don't mind me asking, "What were your mom's problems that she had to have surgery again"? People tell me to slow it down, I should listen to them. Yesterday my 1st day back to work was hard. I find myself ready for a nap around 2pm, and I work till 5pm. Today my swelling was back "big-time", also the burning sensation I had a few weeks after surgery. I know I should let my doctor know. Thank You.

I'm 7 weeks post op, TAH kept ovaries, having terrible insomnia, hot flashes and night sweats. When I asked my doc about it at the 6 week checkup she told me she didn't want me to start on any hormones in case my ovaries kicked in. Now I'm wondering... if they haven't kicked in by now, will they? Has anyone else experienced this and if so what have you done?

My mom had hernia surgery (lower left side) less than a year after her hyster. When her six weeks was over she started painting, moving bricks and cleaning her deck. She was 72 at the time so that probably made in worse. She had an anterior vaginal wall repair this time. 11 months after her hernia surgery. One of her friends also had hernia surgery following a hysterectomy. I'm not sure if the hyster lead to the hernia or not but I'm going to try an take it easy for at least 6 months.

Hi everyone
Today was my first 8 hr work day and I survived it. Each day gets better for me and Iam mindful to rest as soon as I get home. Iam treating my body better post TAH. Before I used to work until I am fatigued now I have more balance.

Hello to my sisters,
TAH, been back to work for a week now on light duty (I work in a nursing home with lots of lifting) So far so good. I see my doctor in February, to see if I may need some H/T but Im feeling great, physically and mentally. My only real problem is I can't sleep at night which makes for a very long day at work. Good thing I'm sleeping alone cause the tv plays all night and I'm up doing housework, painting my nails, eating, everything but sleeping. Haven't tried the sex thing yet, I am married but living separately if that makes any sense at all. So it looks like everyone is doing pretty good with their surgeries. I will check back with everyone in a few days. Take it easy my Dear Sisters

I start 12 hour shifts on Monday. I'm really nervous. I haven't done 12 hour shifts in 5 years. I'll be working less days per week so that's a plus.

Hi Dr Duke:
Remember to pace yourself and listen to your body when you do your 12 hour shifts. 8 weeks ago today was my TAH, plus I cant wait until my transfer goes through.
I get slight pains on my right side that's about it. Today a very rough day for me I had a vicous co worker make the comment she doesnt believe I had surgery " She says I had a 6 week paid vacation." The same remark my manger made to me. Mind you no one knows what surgery I had and it is not their concern. It has gotten to point all sorts of ugly speculations about my leave. All I am waiting is for my official transfer date so I get the heck of there.
Our general manager , is now running our store, he is good guy he is the one who stood up for me when I returned from leave and recommended me for a better position .(Still awaiting my transfer should be very soon.
Wednesday I will start my first Aregentine Tango lesson in 3 years, Iam looking forward to it and will buy my first real fancy tango shoes.

I just found this site a few days ago, sure wish I had known about it earlier, as you can imagine. Had TAH/BSO on 11-26 so I guess I am 7 weeks or more post-op. Doing OK except for right side pain, Doc said at eval yesterday that it would be 6 mo. before really felt good. I walk a lot and am doing my housework now, not lifting heavy things or running as yet. I start back to work tomorrow and will do 12 hour shift. Will leave early if it gets too rough. Each day gets better!!! Thanks to all of you I have been reading. It is so nice to know that we are not alone.

Any suggestions about weight loss post-hyst? I am depressed about my post-op weight gain that won't go away. I looked into Jenny Craig (too expensive) and Weight Watchers. (I might do this one online). Anyone ever try diet pills like Hoodia or others? I am now drinking Slim-Fast until I find something better.I HATE being fat!!!!
