Hi all!!! I had my TAH on ll/23 also--Contessa D-so glad you are doing so well, you are giving me incentive to keep going!! Had to go out of town Tues and just got back. It was South Fla. and I did walk on the beach a little but walking in the sand was rough. I am still getting sore on right side also. Wonder if that is because the R. ovary was where the 18 in. tumor was? It ruptured so I assume they did a lot of cleaning and suctioning on that side. Will go back to work tomorrow, suppose to do 12 hour shift. I can sit part of the time but have to get up and walk quite a bit, too. I am a nurse (psychiatric) so I am not real familiar with our surgery and post op care. This is a learning experience for me, also. I still get very tired at end of day, too. When is your transfer?

I think age may contribute to all of our post op recovery times, also.
I am 55, in fairly good shape but still having some right side pain. Like a constant toothache, always aware of it but not bad enough to need any medication. I will be 9 weeks PO tomorrow. Am resting up today before work. (when I say resting, I mean laundry, cleaning clutter, etc.) but nothing too physical.

I also had my TAH the 23rd of Nov. By the middle of my dayshift or Night shift my belly hurts. Kinda like a knife or razor poking my belly. It gets swollen and hard as a rock, especially around the incision. I bend over a lot to pick up paper, trash, clothes from the floor, (dept. store). I move handfuls of clothes from one place to another. Plus, I walk all day at the store. If, while I'm folding a shirt, & it touches my belly it hurts! Today, I'm off and all is fine with the belly, just a little sore. I'm eating CVS Ibuprofen like it's the last bottle on the shelf. I still have about 10 Hydrocodone left. I break them in half so they last. I'm contimplating asking my doctor for another refill, but I'm afraid he'll say no. And that will make me feel like a druggy.

Tomorrow will be 9 weeks and I was doing pretty good. But this past week I have been so tired in the evening. Last night I was in bed at 9:30 and that was after a day of doing very little. On work days last week, I was exhausted by 5:00. I was hoping that every day I would feel stronger, but last week was like going backward. I had the DaVinci surgery, so I feel like I should have had a smoother and quicker recovery than those with the abdominal surgeries. Is anyone else finding themselves tired even after 9 weeks?

I'm also very tired in the evening, and them when it's time to go to bed....I can't sleep!!! I've tried melatonin, advil pm nothing helps but Ambiem and then I only take a half of 10mg. I only have 7 pills left, so I don't know what I'll do then. I'm so disappointed, I had them leave my ovaries but now I have all the menopause symptoms...insomnia, hot flashes, night sweats you name it!!!!

Hi Cacarter- your symptoms are very similar to mine. My doctor only gave me enough hydrocodone to last for one week after surgery, I envy you- I wish I had some now but like you, do not want to ask for any after this long ....tomorrow I will be 9 weeks post op, guess I will try the Motrin for now, that is what the Doc said, but I do get painful in right lower abdomen whether I am being active or not....
lincolnlady- I also have trouble sleeping, so tired then cannot sleep, I think I am going to take Tylenol PM to help sleep tonite.

oh, beachlover2--What is the DaVinci surgery?
I had 7" vertical cut abdominal (the 18" ovarian cyst was so big and surgeon needed to do a lot of exploring, I guess, he took everything out!!
Both ovaries, tubes and uterus. He left cervix, guess so I have to keep getting pap smears??!!!!I also feel good one day than the next feel like I did at 6 wks. post -op. one step forward, two steps back...

Iam glad we are expereincing similiar physical symptoms- I always take a nap after work also I get the right side incision discomfort. I noticed post TAH my hair texture changed it is softer and now my skin is getting drier. I had combination skin before TAH. My swelly belly tells me Iam over doing it.

The DaVinci surgery is the robot assisted laproscopic surgery. There are only 5 small incisions so the hospital stay and recovery are much shorter. It was really wonderful, but I think when you have it you forget how much your insides went through...I guess I was just hoping to be back to "normal" at this point.
