Vaginal Cuff Cellulitis

I got cellulitus around my abdominal incision at 4 1/2 weeks post op and an abcess about in the middle of incision. (Yep, had a CT scan in the ER). The redness started about 10 am and by 7 pm was about 6 inches around and hot to the touch. IV antiobiotics in the ER and sent home on other strong ones. for like 14 days. They have made me so nauseus! I am now taking the motion sickness med. to help with the nauseua.

Vaginal Cuff Cellulitis

Good afternoon! I hope you are feeling some relief with antibiotics. I know when mine finally kicked in, I felt better. I had the nasuea feeling with pain killers so I haven't had any of those since day 2 . . sucks but I'm making it. Each day is a new day. I hope you continue to see some improvement.

Vaginal Cuff Cellulitis

Hi Michelle,

The only thing that I have is several open wounds in my incision, and where the plug of the drain was. I am cleaning everything several times a day with hydrogen peroxide. However, they are still open wounds, smell horrible, and here we are on day 25 post op. I haven't had any blood clots come out of me since my surgery. The only thing I have is constant clear discharge. It is almost like water. I wear a pantyliner to catch whatever it is, but that is about all I can do.

I feel like I am walking around like a lumberjack because of having that strange sensation of having 4x4's inside of me. It is just horrible.

I just wish I would heal sooner than later. This is just so uncomfortable.

Blessings all around.

Good evening! I understand the walking around like a lumberjack.

I have a strange question, is your urine cloudy??

I hope every day brings more relief from the discomfort.

Michelle

Vaginal Cuff Cellulitis

Hello Ladies,

I am trying out a new antibiotic that I received from the wound care center of the hospital. The dr's there seem to think that my skin is healing but not in the usual compartimentalized manner. It happens alot with folks who are on the heavy side (which I am). I am still very uncomfortable. The dr's think it will just take time for my insides to heal. I was told that I am being wayyy to active for someone who had a TAH/BSO, along with the complications I had.

I did have a bladder infection earlier that I cleared up myself by drinking a lot of cranberry juice. My latest urine drip showed I was free from my earlier infection (yay!).

Now, I am still walking around like a lumberjack feeling like I have a 4x4 inside of me. I was told that this is normal for someone who is wayyy to active too early on in their recovery. I was all of these things. I had to get up and move myself from bed to bed or wheelchair immediately following my surgery because of my cardiac complications. I had a severe arrythmia due to an allergic reaction to the pain med I was given (oxycotton). My heart rate was over 191 beats per minute once the RN gave it to me. And remember once you get medicine in your system, you cannot take it back out.

The discharge I have seems to be normal according to my dr. She told me that some women who are heavy tend to release urine because their weight bears down on their bladder. Or the second thing the discharge could be is my internal organs are releasing the fluid that was once caught by my drain, which is what everyone thinks it is because of the odor. It is still pretty bad. It was cultured, and I am waiting for the results. Hopefully with the antibiotic I am on now will clear this up as well.

I have to say, this has been such an eye opening experience for both my husband and myself. Whew!

Blessings all around!
