Watch for redness, and bulge around incision

I was at 4 1/2 weeks post op, and starting to feel good. All of a sudden on Monday morning, my stomach felt achy along the incision. I put my hand on it and it was hot. I looked at it and a little pink. I put ice on it and rested. Within 8 hours, the redness got brighter and hotter. I called and they sent me to ER. CAT scan shows an abscess about the size of 2 inches, and that I have cellulitus. I thought if I were to get an infection, it would have happened right away. Who would think after 4 weeks! I had IV antibiotics in the ER and very strong ones at home. I have to go back and see my surgeon on Friday, to have it opened and drained!!!! I can't believe this! Anyone else have this happen to them??

So sorry to hear about the abscess. I had my surgery on 10-18 as well and never would think such a thing could happen so late in the recovery. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Keep us posted.
