Fistula after Hysterectomy, no antibiotics prescribed

I had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. 4 days after the surgery I was rushed to the hospital with a severe infection. It appears I now have a fistula, (a hole) in my bladder and have lost control of my bladder. I am on a catheter and will need to have bladder surgery. My doctor never put me on antibiotics after the surgery. Is this normal? I would love to hear from others.

Thanks,

Loandough: I am sorry to hear about your experience. I had my TAH/BSO on 11/14-the doctor did perscribe me an antibiotic upon discharge, the main reason being that I live 100 miles away from the hospital and he stated just as a percaution he did not want to have to see me make an unnecessary emergency trip back. My fever upon discharge was low grade, nothing above 100 degrees. That's my story...
