More Surgery! CUFF REPAIR! YIKES!!!
Hello Everyone!
I have been told that more surgery is needed! Pain with sex is not normal and my DR doesn't think it is just from the 2 spots of granulation tissue I have. He is anticipating a cuff repair. Anyone out there had one and know how long the healing time is? I am 7 months post-op from a LATVH. I am just not ready for this! I have a 1 year old son and there is NO WAY I can go without lifting him. HE IS STILL NURSING!
HELP!

I had a cuff repair on Oct. 29th and the restrictions are pretty much the same as post op hysterectomy. The pain is not as bad though. It is hard to limit myself since I feel better than I did at this time from my hysterectomy. I hope all goes well for you. I will be praying. By the way the actual procedure to do it I was under anesthesia, and it was not that bad. Just stayed one day in the hospital so I could stay on IV antibiotics. You may not have to as my repair was because of a tear with my bowels coming through. Good luck.

More Surgery! CUFF REPAIR! YIKES!!!
Hi Kubby,
Just had an op on the 17th Nov to renew cuff. Surgeon thinks endo was sewn in it at originial hysterectomy, and had bad bowel adhesions on it. (Waiting for histology report to confirm endo - will know this Wednesday) Also had extensive bowel adhesions everywhere else inside and possible endo. Bladder has been symptomatic as well.
Recovery has been so much easier than original hyst (Vertical TAH) Pain has been very manageable - no pain killers in day since day 1! He cut out original cuff and restitched it back
Sex was a no no, before op due to pain, as was the last internal exam. I ended up at A&E (UK) dept of hospital two days after internal as pain had not subsided. It has taken 2 and a half years for me to find out what has been the problem. I have continually been told that I had a severe form of IBS until this summer when they decided it wasn't IBS. 2 gynaes have said that my problem wasn't gynae related. It has taken a visit to a 3rd gynae specialist to get a diagnosis.
Only restriction I have at the moment is no sex for 5 weeks. Also no bath for first week. I have no lifting restrictions and have been told to keep very active. I'm supposed to be up and about 70% of the day. I feel good and was managing 2.5 miles walk from day 3. I'm still tired but that is understandable. The deep pain inside at the top of my vagina where my uterus used to be has gone. Time will tell if the op has fixed my other problems. He said it may be 2-3 months before we know for certain. At the moment I'm pleased with the outcome.

More Surgery! CUFF REPAIR! YIKES!!!
Sorry for seeming dumb but which bit is the cuff? I am 10 weeks post op and had horizontal cut - healing fine and feel fine. Doc said no to HRT due to my age and only have warm glows instead of Hot Flushes. Feel well, however on intercourse have deep sharp pain. Not sure whether to go back to Doc - is it too early after op? At 6 weeks check up with consultant - he didn't do an internal - so I am wondering is it something to do with the cuff? I did experience a feeling similar to having a tampon in 2 - 3 weeks post op, but that feeling has gone. Had a few complications in hospital - as had an internal infection so ending up being in 9 days instead of the usual 4, but Doc put it down to internal bleeding that got infected. I had an internal swap taken then - all seemed to be okay then. Biopsy showed I had Endometroisis and Adenomyosis which I didn't know I had - also lots of scar tissue left over from a very bad burst appendix and multipul fibroids. Any advice ... what I should do - leave it a bit longer to see if it all settles or see Doc? Thanks
