I made the mistake of booking a cross country trip starting tomorrow. Wish I wouldn't have done that, but too late now. Maybe being in a different atmosphere will help. I'm going to visit old in-laws and my son. Should have booked a trip to the caribbean instead. Then I wouldn't have to sit around and make small talk.

sistersmitty,
I haven't tried that kind of iron infact the last three days I have just been taking my Women's One Daily that has 18 mg 100% Iron.

The bad thing about being so low on Iron you don't really notice until it makes you about to pass out.
I had a friend over the second week and after visiting for a couple hours she looked at me and said I was pale.

I was feeling really bad and was almost feeling like I could pass out and she was right I was very pale.

I need to go to my doc so she can test my iron levels especially if this doesn't seem to be enough.

I think we don't really realize how much blood we actually loose and most docs don't think about it since they don't see it.

If anyone is having this problem please keep a close eye on it as it can be very seriouse.

Congrats on cancer free!! Before you take more iron supplements, try getting it through foods. Easier on the system. If you take extra iron supplements due to anemia, realize it can umm.... plug you up you might say. Just a warning.

Thank you spencersaunt : )
Yeah I have pretty much eaten everything I can that could help me with the iron. The constipation was bad enough from the pain meds, I didn't want to continue having to take stool meds.

Thanks : )

Just returned from my 6 week check up. Dr. says all is going well but has extended my restrictions (lifting, swimming, bellydancing, etc.) for another three months. Many of my stitches have not yet dissolved so I guess this is a precaution. I am permitted to walk on flat, even surfaces and to use handweights not exceeding 3 pounds. Premarin.625 seems to be working OK. so am sticking with that. Still have swelling and alot of tenderness above the incision area. I guess that will take time. Other than that I feel pretty well and will have to be patient and follow instructions.
anyone else have their restrictions extended?

Hi Felina - my doc didn't even mention internal stitches having disolved or not. My restrictions were not extended, but I defintely don't feel up to lifting, hiking, or other things. She told me "if it hurts, stop". It's interesting how different everyone's doctor's instructions are.

My blood pressure was through the roof at my 6-week checkup yesterday, but the doc didn't seem concerned, just told me to follow up with my gp in 1 month. She said that it's not related to the OTC meds for pain, but my internet research indicates that extended use, in high doses, of ibuprofen and tylenol can raise blood pressure. I've stopped taking those pain meds, but I'm not sure if I can keep that up.

Hi, I just returned from my 6-week check-up. No restrictions either. I was told all is well and I could return to all my normal activities and just listen to what and how my body feels. Even though I'm 71, I had a remarkably free of pain recovery. The only thing I experienced was fatigue later in the day, but even that has improved. I had a complete abdominal hysterectomy, uterus and cervix included. I'm surprised to read so many younger ladies have had pain and complications from their surgeries. Maybe it has something to do with the surgeon. I'm looking forward to relaxing and soaking in my jacuzzi tub tonight. Hope you all continue to do well too.

Just back from my 6 week as well. Listed all restrictions except the heavy lifting. I do still get some pain-manageable, but was told this is soooo normal. The worst is my exhaustion! I still have awful insomnia and feel ready to drop at any given time of the day, but let it be time to go to bed and no way! Just worried because I start back to work full time next week, with an hr commute each way.

Hi, I'm at 5 weeks and will have my 6 weeks check up next Tuesday on the 15th. Im hoping to have my restrictions lifted too. But In the process of waiting for my next check up I have been in a car accident and am hoping that doesnt extend my restrictions. They did do a catscan and so on and said nothing wrong internally. The keep telling me the same thing you posted above, to listen to how my body feels. Even tho everything is healing quite well, I am experiencing fatigue later in the day too, but even that has improved. I am hoping to go to the gym and use the hot tub soon. I just renewed my membership there. Just waiting for my docs approval. The only other issue im having is that the scar tissue in that area is quit HARD. Is anyone else having this issue? Id really like to hear of anything that anyone knows of that i can do for this hardness.

((felina)) just went to my four week post op and everything seemed great, but I KNOW my own restrictions, and I'm sensing that I NEED to stop the lifting, schleping in hefty bags of laundry plus 64 oz. Tide Free :-) down a hotel hall. Awaiting moving into a nice guest house in week and a half. But, I am POSITIVE I'm lifting too much. Come back and half to take Vicodin. Just started driving yesterday for first time. 4 weeks plus 3 days. Things pull and stretch and it doesn't feel good. I need more resting, no long days out and No real exercising for months. I know it.l I did Pilates and Louisiana dancing. No way, this stuff will tear internal stitches.

Glad you got a timeframe that works for your lifestyle.

Best
