I am wondering if anyone knows if it is ok to have a manual orgasm before the six week time. I know you have to wait 6weeks for intercourse.

jessy - definitely ask your doc. from what i know you can do damage to the stitches and healing from the spasming. I did it once maybe 2 1/2 weeks out and then realized i should not have and felt sooooooo guilty and kinda scared wondering wether i compromised healing. Just ask him to be sure.

I would be going mad if I had to wait for the all clear! At 2 weeks I was disappointed as the abdominal spasms kind of ruined the experience and I was concerned that the op had affected all future O's; but I soon found out that they are as good as before! I didn't ask the doctor for permission as I thought as long as it didn't include penetration it was ok, I have no idea if we are medically allowed. As you will hear time and time again on this site "if in doubt ask your doctor"; but it this case I am not sure exactly how much damage it could do.

my dr cleared me for manual orgasm at 3 weeks post op. But check with your dr, because everyone is different and dr's have different guidelines.

At my 2 week post op check Dr said "You can have an orgasm whenever you want, but NO intercourse or anything "up there" for 6 weeks.

Well, all my doc said was "nothing in the vagina for six weeks" but didn't mention any other sort of fooling about, so about 10 days post-op I went solo. It all still works, but obviously the "throbs" that used to accompany the big O are no longer there. I'm okay with it, looking forward to the big day when DH can join the fun.

I was just about to ask this exact question, thanks for reading my mind and for the great responses.

As ((others)) have indicated, it's always best to check with your doctor as different restrictions can apply to different surgeries. I have read posts where ladies have complained of pain and problems following an orgasm, too soon ...

It may help you to read the following HS articles <links> Sex - Do I really have to wait 6 weeks? and Post-Op Sex Checkpoint.

I hope your recovery is going well!

While I don't remember how soon following surgery I had my first orgasm, I can tell you it wasn't anything to get excited about. In fact, it felt very different. However, now that I'm 1.5 years out, I'm pleased to report the "wave" is back--meaning the intensity of the orgasm. Now if I could resolve the lack of interest, I'd be in good shape. HA!

I was worried, wondering if everything still "worked" and decided to try it "solo" a couple of days ago. I can tell you that I had an orgasm, but it was very weak and a bit disappointing, but I figured it might get better with time. I was 10 days post op. Being of an inquisitive nature, I tried again yesterday, and had a deeper, stronger "O", but still not the strength of pre-op activity. Later in the day, I developed pains and started spotting. It would be my advice to wait, until your 2 week post-op appointment, then specifically ask your doctor if having a manual orgasm is OK. I have my 2 week post op tomorrow (11/30) and I'm going to ask her. Don't take any chances with your healing process. It's not worth it.
