Embarrassing Question About Discharge

This is quite embarrassing, but I cannot get my doctor's office to respond to me. I am 13 days post-op from a LAVH with BSO and I have just started getting a heavy very horrible odor discharge. It really smells like a rotting animal, sorry I know it's bad. I change my pad every 30 min or so to help keep the smell down and wash during the day at work with unscented baby wipes. Any suggestions? Is this normal? When will it end? Should I be concerned? Thanks for any responses.

Embarrassing Question About Discharge

You need to call your doctor as soon as possible-could be infection if it smells really bad. Are you running a fever? Don't be ashamed to talk to your doctor! Besides he/she knows you inside/out!!!!

Embarrassing Question About Discharge

Hello. I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. It sounds very much like the one I had when about 10 days to 2 weeks out. The doctor's nurse said it was normal to have discharge. I wonder if she still has her job. When I saw the doc for the 2 week checkup, he said it was NOT normal, what I was experiencing and what I had described to the nurse. I had torn my internal (vaginal) stitches. Please call your doctor and tell her/him about your situation. It sounds very much as if your internal stitches might be tearing or have torn, and they should see you soon! In my case, I went in for the checkup, learned that my situation was not normal, and they did a cold cauterization, right there in the office. It was very painful. But after a few days, it felt a whole lot better than feeling "me" coming back down through the vaginal canal! Please call your doctor's office and try to get in to see the doctor. They might tell you to go to the emergency room. My thinking is that we ought to press to have our surgeons see us under these conditions. Best wishes to you on this recovery.

Embarrassing Question About Discharge

Definitely get in to see the doc or go to Urgent Care. It's quite possible you have an infection, and that's something that needs to be taken care of before it gets any worse.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

Embarrassing Question About Discharge

I concur with the other ladies here -- I had the rotting animal in my underpants too, and it had burrowed into my pelvis and ruptured -- and trust me, you do NOT want that animal in there.... I am trying to keep this light, only because I know these can be difficult subjects to breach, even in this somewhat anonymous situation on-line. Everyone has similar embarrassments, and in this case, I will stand up proud and say I too stank to high heaven and it turned out that's a sign from your body that something is indeed not quite right in Denmark...

Please let us know what happens with the doctor. Beat the door down to get in, if you must!
Best of luck to you,
Dina

Embarrassing Question About Discharge

Nov. 9,was my Hyst,no overies left, still passing little bits of tissue, makes me want to ralph, had stinky rotten meat discharge and Dr. said I had a "small" infection due to cauterization where my overies were removed, took the antibiotics, better now but I still have a yellowish, beige discharge, why don't they talk more to us? I feel as if I will never be normal again, I had no choice about the surgery but I'm angry at the lack of education that has been offered, I feel as if I'm Dorothy, thrown thru the center of the tornado with no yellow brick road ahead. Call the Doctor now.

Embarrassing Question About Discharge

I am 3 weeks out today and I, too, have the nasty smelling discharge. I was diagnosed with vaginal cuff cellulitis 8 days after surgery. Took 7 days of anitbiotics . .pain is better . . fever is gone (freeze to death all the time now) but discharge and smell are still the same.

I hate it ... is it not normal???
