Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

I am scheduled for my Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH on 12.19 and am in need of help from my Sisters. How much pain did you have post-op? How long before you were able to drive or go back to work? I have really enjoyed this site!

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

Hey dannyj, I just got word today that mine will be LSH as well. The day before yours. I am grateful that I am going to have this type as I want to keep my cervix. I'll be watching for the replies to your post. MD told me today that I would be out for 2 to 3 weeks.

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

When I had mine, I had no pain post op. I went home that night. I was released to do anything that felt comfortable at 10 days post op. I did take it slow though and waited for a few weeks to drive.

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

OOPS what I was saying was.......I had an LSH about 10 months ago. No post op pain, for me this was an extremely easy procedure I was shocked at how easy it was. I could have went back to work 4 days later but my doctor ok'd me to go back after 2 weeks. You do have to remember to take it easy, which is hard when you feel so good. Good luck to all of the ladies in waiting !

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

Hi Dannyj,

I also had a LSH. It is still one of the best things I ever did for my long term health.

I drove at 2 weeks post-op and I went back to work at the same time. I just took it slow at work and delegated when I could. I got a greenlight for all activities like sex and the gym at 6 weeks.

Sending best wishes~

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

i had an lsh last year. i was in quite a bit of pain and stayed in the hospital for 2 days. it was gas pains from the lap that prevented me from eating. other than that...the recovery was a breeze compared to any abdominal surgery i have had in the past. i drove from the day i came home, straightened up the house, walked, etc. i had no problems at all post op except for bleeding a few weeks after surgery that my dr said was just leftover blood and it shouldnt happen again. he was right. if you've had other abdominal surgeries, i am sure you will find the lsh recovery very easy. good luck

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

Very easy recovery. I drove at 4 days. I was cleared for exercise (and sex )at 2 weeks (then started spotting, so waited a couple more...ughh..) Went back to work on Day 10 (I'm a teacher). No pain meds after the first night (and that was mainly to relax and sleep well.) After that, Advil for a few days, just for inflammation. Gas was the worst part, and that was relieved after about the third day. I also had some urinary discomfort for a couple of days (seems like I couldn't empty all the way...just an irritation, nothing serious, just kept having to get up...)
All the best! It's a great technique -- so much easier on your body than the others types.

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

I had a TVH, and although I had several complications, I initially went back to work 7 days post-op. I felt great, as far as pain went, and had I not had a pulmonary embolism, I probably would have been totally fine.

You'll just "know" when it's right. And if you're uncertain, your doc will be very helpful in this way!

Best of luck on the surgery!

Questions RE: Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy LSH

Dannyj, I am also having a LSH the day after yours. I was told I could return to work after 2 weeks, I hope that happens! Do you have to stay overnight? I will be staying overnight and going home in the AM.

Thanks and good luck with you day at the castle!
