4 Weeks - still painful to urinate - is this normal?
My surgery was October 31 (TAH/BSO). A large tumor was somewhat adhered to my bladder and had to be "pried/scraped" away from the bladder. This caused thinning of the bladder wall and significant pain when trying to urinate after the catheter was removed. I had to come home with a catheter in place for two weeks following the surgery. Since removal of the catheter - I can go to the bathroom normally but I experience significant to moderate pain when the bladder is nearly empty.
Has anyone else experienced this sort of pain (feels like a severe menstral cramp - in the bladder) when urinating?

I did not have anything major done like you did, however I did experience similar pain when I went pee. It wasn't as much painful as it was more of a pressure feeling. It almost felt like my bladder was having mild contractions when it was empty. I am at 3 1/2 months post op and they have completely gone away. Hope this helps!!

4 Weeks - still painful to urinate - is this normal?
Yes, I have been having that same sort of feeling and I'm not emptying my bladder all the way. It is sort of like a menstrual cramp only in the bladder. It feels like I still really need to go, but nothing more is coming out. I think I am calling my surgeon today just to check in.

4 Weeks - still painful to urinate - is this normal?
Nearly everyone has that feeling. I had the same issues with my bladder. I am 6 weeks post of (tomorrow). I still have tht feeling when my bladder is almost empty. I asked my Dr. she says it is just the bladder responding to being moved around an "messed with" and that it wil heal and all will be fine. Just be patient.

4 Weeks - still painful to urinate - is this normal?
Thanks for these replies - It is good to know that this is not unusual. I am only 4 weeks post op. If it is normal for this sensation to occur for months postop, I'll not be so impatient. None of my doctors have given me any guidance for how long this issue will continue. Thanks for sharing your replies - I can at least now gauge what to expect for the next weeks and months.
Good luck to all of you!
