Weight Gain afterwards...anyone else?

Good morning
First of all, I remember soon after my surgery a family member who had a hysterectomy a long time ago told me to watch out for weight gain. Now I know what she is talking about. I feel like such a blimp. Has anyone else gained weight?
thanks

There are ladies who complain of weight gain but, equally, there are others who lose weight. If you try a "forum search" (click right on the main page of this forum) you'll find plenty of posts where ladies complain of weight gain. Here's a link to one to start you off: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...highlight=gain.

I hope someone will be along soon who can relate. Take care!

Weight Gain afterwards...anyone else?

I lost almost 2lbs in the first couple of weeks. I suspect it was due to not eating much for a few days. Now I am bored and find myself not watching what I eat. Add to that the lack of exercise these days and I am back up a couple of pounds. I'll be glad when I can get back to the gym & pool.

Yep I put on weight, but that's because I over ate my comfort foods! It's funny - I was warned about weight gain too, but I dismissed it as an old wives tale.... bah...

I think the lack of good exercise for a couple of months contributes to that "blimp" feeling. Even if you don't do any organised exercise, just doing stuff around the house or at work on a daily basis normally keeps you feeling okay. Take that away and bleh...

I'm finding now that it's hard to shift that weight I put on. Things aren't happening the way they used to (and by that I mean a few months ago, not years). Oh well... at least I'm going to the gym now which gives me a fighting chance!

I've lost 9 pounds since my surgery 2 weeks ago. I'm very careful of what I eat and how much. I'm craving comfort foods horribly. It must be the healing process coupled with the lack of hormones. But I don't give in. If you are careful, watch what you eat and how much, then later exercise regularly, you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

oh ya

I so didnt want to gain, and I did. I have, and I am.
It just doesnt seem to matter what I do. My gynocologist who is "generous" told me she knows that they say say you don't, but that she did as well and she doesnt care what they say, it happens, and it isnt always able to come off. Her husband, is my Family Dr. and he is trying to help me with losing. I lost 6 pounds, and then it just stops.
It is discouraging to me.
You sure arent alone.

Our ability to lose gets greatly impacted by menopause. I don't think that having an hyst impacts it unless your ovaries are removed forcing you into surgical menopause.

I lost 90 lbs with weight watchers. The moment I hit menopause I stopped losing. For the past 18 months I have not been able to get the last 10 lbs off. I'm hoping the estrogen patch will help get things started again once I can start exercising again. For now I am just trying to NOT gain any weight.

i have gained weight too, i think its the fact that we arent doing anything. and eating. i was off work for three months earlier this year from a car accident and i gained weight then too, i lost it over the summer, but here i am again, going thru the same thing, i dont think its the hysterectomy that does it, its not being able to moce around as much i we should be.. i feel like a blimp too. we will lose it once we are back to moving around alot again

I've gained a lot of weight and have changed NOTHING in my life. I still eat very little and still don't excercise. I know I should excercise and when I find the motiviation I will, but I've had rapid weight gain since my surgery and I'm a total believer it's the hormones.
