5 Wks Post Op - Pain & Bleeding?????

Hello -

Well I'm just over 5 weeks post op. Had Total Laparascopic Hysterectomy (DaVinci Method) and BSO.

Over the weekend, I moved the wrong way and felt like something "tore" inside on my right. Have had mild pain in this area ever since. Last night, had some pretty good sharp twinges off and on and some minor cramping. Been taking Aleve. This morning I started some light bleeding (red, but not heavy, but heavier than spotting). It seems so wierd to start bleeding now. I bled a couple days last week, after being on my feet, holiday shopping for 4 hours or so. Just thought I overdid it.

I'm concerned because it seems so wierd to still be dealing with all of this at 5 weeks. The healing was supposed to be faster and easier with the DaVinci.

I just spoke to a nurse at my dr office. They are running the info by one of the providers and will call me back to let me know if they want to see me or not.

I also told her that I have been so EXHAUSTED. I feel like I could stay in bed all day every day. She said this could be hormonal, as I'm trying not to take HRT for at least 3 months due to the endometriosis. I was planning on going back to work next week, but I can't imagine it right now. The thought of it makes me want to cry!

Is this abnormal? Am I just a wimp? Am I healing incorrectly?

Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated right now.

Thanks,
Christine

You're not a wimp

Hi Christine, You are not being a wimp and like me are very early in your recovery. I am 6 weeks TAH/BSO and am still extremely exhausted. (and I'm on HRT). I had a bleeding episode at about 3 weeks. My doctor had me come in and said that I had "popped" one of my stitches but that I was still healing well. I still get twinges here and there, also. From all of the reading that I have done on this site we are very normal and complete recovery can take anywhere from 3 months to a year. I'm glad you have contacted your doctor . He/She will be able to give you some peace of mind. In the meantime, hang in there, rest as much as you can, and try to be patient. I know it is very hard...I'm right there with you. I will pray for you tonight. Let me know what your doctor says.

s and Blessings, Lisa

5 Wks Post Op - Pain & Bleeding?????

Hi Christine

I am just like you 5 weeks, I had a TVH and thought that by now I would be recovered. Well, how wrong was I, although I do feel better as each week goes by I still get very tired at the slightest thing. Walked the block this morning 10 minutes it felt like 10 miles I have been recovering from it all day.

I'm lucky dont have to return to work until after Christmas no way could I go just now.

Take Care

Heather - 40

TVH - 23/10/07 - uterine and bladder prolapse also heavy bleeding and clotting.

5 Wks Post Op - Pain & Bleeding?????

Thanks ladies! I really appreciated the responses and prayers!

My doctor said that as long as the bleeding and pain were both mild, that this should be normal. As for the fatigue, it's probably hormonal and they will discuss it with me further at my follow up on Dec 10th.

I'm still in a panic about returning to work, but I'm fortunate that I am able to go back part time. I just thought I'd be further ahead by now. It's nice to know I'm not alone, that it's not just me.

Hang in there ladies, and thanks again!
