2 week post-op check-up

I just got back from the doctor and he said that I'm healing nicely. The pathology report indicated different kinds of tumors, all benign. There was no cancer. There was a significant amount of andometriosis but very little endometriosis. Most of my pain was from the andometriosis and a ton of scar tissue (adhesions). The tumor in my left ovary was causing that pain. My ovary was the size of a medium orange. He agreed that I should forgo the hormones at least for now. I go on December 4 to have blood drawn for the BRCA 1 &2 genes testing to see if I am predisposed for breast cancer. If I am there are measures I can take to help prevent or detect early diagnosis. If not then I will be very happy with that. Keep your fingers crossed that comes back negative.

I go back in 1 month for a six week check-up. Until then, no driving and the only exercise allowed is short walks. It's going to be a long month.

How long is a short walk? I didn't get any particular guidelines, other than walk and sit a while, if you get tired. I was used to lots of walking, pre-op.

I still hurt a lot. I had complications during surgery. So walking still hurts a bit. I would suppose walk till it's uncomfortable, rest, then return. They gave me more pain meds today to help me get used to moving a little more. I was walking a few miles a day up until about 3 months ago. It became too painful to walk. So I quit. Now I want to walk again. Walking was how I was losing weight. I want to keep dropping those pounds so I need to walk again.

Nixie, Keep on walking and do what you can. Like you said, walk, then rest. A great walking site: www.lesliesansone.com

Remember: short walks add up.

Sorry you had complications causing pain. From my understanding, walking will actually help with pain.

Thanks so much. I will check the site out and bookmark it for future reading as well. I can't wait to get back up to where I was. One of my goals is to walk in the Breast Cancer Walk in honor of my Mom who died and 2 sisters and a brother (twice) who survived. Thanks for the info and support.
