5 days after TAH/BSO can't stop crying...

I also had some extremely emotional moments the first two weeks after my surgery. I've had about half a dozen hot flashes (they only lasted about 20-30 seconds). My doctor strongly prefers that we don't use hormones unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes it is, in that case he said that it is best to use them for the shortest time possible. I had a triple lumpectomy on my right breast last summer, and my grandmother lost a breast to cancer. So I have to worry about the possible increased risk of breast cancer. That is not meant to frighten or discourage anyone else, everyone's situation is unique. My doctor told me that being overweight would actually work to my advantage in this aspect. (Who knew that being fat was ever to our advantage?) He said that fat cells produce estrogen. Because of this, I have not even had symptoms as bad as some ladies who kept their ovaries. I hope it stays this way!

Just so you know, I have always been an emotional person who cries easily. But those "ugly cry" moments have definitely decreased as I get further along in my recovery.

Wishing you the best! It does get better, it just goes a little slower than we would like!

I am one big hot flash...and one very weepy woman.... also feeling worthless....My husband has been a doll.. but I am still crying... I am a very strong but very sensitive woman...Thanks again for the support!!!!! Zanner

5 days after TAH/BSO can't stop crying...

I cried for 3 weeks after my surgery, so don't worry. My doc said it was normal for the first couple, maybe 3 weeks. Lots of changes in your body, lots of hormones going crazy in there. Try to avoid emotional movies and those really sweet holiday commercials, and remember this too shall pass.

My doctor gave me a hormone shot the day after my surgery that lasted/controlled my hormone levels for two weeks! When I went in for my two week checkup, my Dr. put me on HRT with a low dose of testosterone (at my request). I've been fine and have not had any hot flashes, or mood swings. The only time I've cried is when I read a book about a dog and the dog died.... Other than that, I've had an incredible lobido - which I guess is due to the HRT/testosterone therapy.

Call your doctor! There is no reason to suffer with these symptoms - they CAN and should be controlled with proper replacment hormones if you are able to take HRT.

Good luck.

5 days after TAH/BSO can't stop crying...

I don't know if anyone else had this, but I too had huge crying jags about two weeks out. It was when I realized that from the time I was told that I 'might' have cancer, and needed a total hysterectomy, my days ( about a month) were filled with making plans for the hospital, the house, the what if's if I had cancer, making a trust for my teenage daughter, teling family and friends.....

And then, it was over. And there was no cancer, but I was still very sick. It's like coming home from a month long vacation, only weirder. You make so many plans, for your surgery, and now......you have to deal with what is left.

I am always left feeling like I'm gluing the shell back on humpty-dumpty, piece by piece....

I'm dealing by making small goals. That, and hoping for some hormal help soon from doctor.

Zanner~ YEAH!! Hope all goes well and you are feeling super (or at least decent ) real soon!
Keep us posted, have a great weekend

Scootery- hang in there. I went through a very down time, and I think part of it was the 'let-down' after all the stress and activity from getting ready. When I had my first check up my doc said a lot of what I was going through was hormonal. Also thinking that I had my hyst for no reason, as he told me everything looked normal when they took it out. (Now I know there was adeno and a tubal cyst which sounds like it popped, as well as ome other thing can't quite remember what it was called)

We are strong, we endured a lot before surgery, for a lot longer than our recovery has been so far.
Take care all!

5 days after TAH/BSO can't stop crying...

I am nearly 6 weeks out and go this thursday for the 6 week post op appt. I just wanted to say the first 2 weeks was horrible. I too had tah/bso. I couldnt stop crying for more then an hour it seemed then I was right back at it, the hot flashes were bad but the night sweats were killing me! I told dr i thought i was having a "fire flash" i clearly remember laying in bed thinking this thing should be on fire shouldnt it? I was so hot it was crazy. I was put on .625 of premarin and this last week has been hard like its not enough or something not sure but less crying although last night i had a "spell" first time since my 2 weeks out.... youll get through this but it surely comes one day at a time...keep your head up and just realize this isnt who you are its just what your going through..good luck will keep you in my prayers......
