Burning, itching
Hello, sisters!
I am two years post op and have been doing wonderfully except for one problem that has been bothering me for some time: burning and itching, "down there". The friction of using toilet paper after urinating is torture, since it really feels so irritated.
I have a gyn appt this morning, but wondered if anyone else has experienced this problem. I never had problems like this before the hysterectomy (total abdominal, everything gone). I've been using Gynocort, which helps, but when I stop using it, the problem comes back.

since you had everything removed, its probably dryness. make sure your dr checks you for an infection though...because i had that dry feeling with burning and it was a bacterial infection. are you on any hrt?

Yes, I'm using .1 Estrodial tabs. Couldn't use the patch, which is what my dr prefers -- it caused pretty bad skin rashes.

I'm having some intense itching also. My gyn and I think it might be from slight bladder leakage, because coating myself with desitin seems to make it go away for a day or two. Haven't seen my gyn/oncologist yet to see what she thinks.

Well, I just got back from the GYN, and he says it's probably dryness. He took me off the Estrodial, and put me on Premarin vaginal cream. I'm to call him back in a couple of weeks if it doesn't help.
