Relations delayed, anyone else?

I went for the 6 week post op appt. today and was told that I needed to wait until Christmas or New Year would be better.

The doc said it takes a long time for the vaginal cuff to heal properly and be really careful not to go too deep when we do continue relations.

Anyone else told to wait longer than the 6 weeks?

TAH, tubes, ovaries, uterus and cervix taken out.
Fibroid about 22 week size, cysts on ovaries, excessive bleeding issues, etc

Everyone's situations are different due to individual healing. It does seem that two months is a long time to heal. I was cleared at four weeks. I was careful to do everything I was told to do and do nothing I was warned against during my initial four weeks of recovery, however.

I wish you well and I hope you have a good deal of patience!

I had to wait 8 wks !!
When I went to my 8 wk visit my stitches had finally started coming loose. My Dh was very understanding. I wasn't but waited because I didn't want to cheat and then cause damage.

I guess by the time it is okay, it will be about 10 or so weeks. I really don't want anything to come loose or open up!

I am so sorry, you are delayed again.. That must be so frustrating for you. Is your doctor saying that even after you wait you still have to watch out that you don't go to deep?? I did not understand that part. Would it always be that way?? I just wonder what your doctor meant.

He said when we do start relations, try not to go too deep as to be cautious for awhile as not to open up the stitching. My doc was not one for answering many questions. I asked a couple, he answered them and said, Ok, no more periods, no pap smears, Ok, now you go. You're done.

Personally, I think I'd be looking for a doctor with better communication skills.

Yep, that is what I thought too. If I need to go back to see a doc, it won't be him. My husband and I didn't know what to think when he dismised me like that. It is not what you expect. Before the surgery, he was very good, kept asking, any more questions, etc. But now he is done with me I guess.

My physician asked that we wait 12 weeks as she wanted to make sure that everything was healing properly. I had no problems post op and wasn't very happy about having to wait for what seemed an eternity, but looking back I am glad that we waited. I had absolutely zero pain or discomfort the first time and absolutely no bleeding or discharge afterwards. It was pretty nice. :-)

I'm sad because I won't get clearance until after my wedding anniversary. I guess there won't be a hotel room and hot tub to celebrate this year.
