I work in an OR and had the luxury of hand picking the crew for my LAVH (BSO) on 12/3. I'm not sure that's such a good thing though! I was comfortable with everyone, so didn't take any Versed prior to entering the OR suite. I wasn't nervous....until everyone hovered around for comfort! I felt like I was the main course, and everyone was wanting dinner! I don't remember it, but was told later I was cracking jokes as I went off to sleep. Surgery went great, though, and I was up in my room within 3 hours. I remember sleeping away most of the day, except for the routine vitals that woke me up. The next morning, the dr came by & told me to go home. GLADLY! I got a shower, dressed, and mom picked me up in the lobby. I felt so good we went to the bread company and the grocery store on the way home! Let me tell you, NOT the thing to do! By the time I did all that, then climbed the 15 stairs to get into the house, I was worn out.

From the start, I felt like I was ready to go back to work. Last week I even snuck in and answered the phones for a couple hours (off the clock, of course, since I haven't been released yet!). This Wednesday is my postop visit. My only concern is a huge bruise around one port site. It's still as big as my hand, just changes shape. Last week it was more centered around the incision and the nurse told me that's where the doc had to grab skin for the insufflation needle. Ok, made sense. Now it's almost gone from around the incision and is more midline. I'm not sure what's going on unless I have a small bleeder under there.

Pain was never a problem in the hospital (thank you anesthesia!). I took pain pills the first couple days to ward off any potential. Now I just take one at night because of the bruise discomfort (and it helps me sleep).

Here's a tip for all you suffering BM problems and don't care for pistachios. My doc suggested a tea called Smooth Move, found in the regular tea isle. Let me tell you, it works! A cup before bed and I'm SMOOTH the next day! I've found I can only take a cup every other day or I'm smoothing all over the place.

As for the sexual urges....I've abstained for almost 6 years, and it's not been this bad in ages! I'm not sure why now, but man! So all you ladies fighting the urge.....just think 6 years, and 6 weeks won't seem that long.

Thanks again for all your advice & inspiration. You're a great bunch!

Steviehill

Hi Sisters,

Thought I'd send an update on my PO status. Tomorrow, Wednesday 12/19 is my official 2 wk follow-up with my DR. (and also my 26 yr. Anniversary) ......what a way to spend your anniversary lol

I am anxious to hear from my Dr. and see what he thinks about my progress. LAVH (kept ovaries) was on December 4th so its been 2 weeks!

I feel great. Sometimes I feel like I've done too much but I'm sure if there has been any negative impacts he will be able to tell during my check-up.

Last Friday I went to the hairdresser and had my hair cut and highlighted then went to Walmart and picked up a wedding gift for my niece. Felt bad for my son because he couldn't get his sisters to help him with his Christmas shopping so I then went to the mall with him and helped him pick out some gifts. Then we went all went to out to dinner. Went home and rested up on the couch for the rest of the night but was out and about from 11 am that morning until 8 pm that night.

Next day on Saturday afternoon (3 pm) we went to my nieces wedding. We got home about 11 pm that night.

Sunday rested all day

Monday , went for my mammogram that was 2 yrs past due.
Today going to bake some
Tomorrow - going to my DR.

Other than a few gas pains that still creep up, a little bit of occasional nausia from certain foods I feel okay.

I do still feel like my bladder infection isn't completely gone and I've been on this Macrobid for 2 wks now so that is worrying me a bit.

Still refraining from Sex and plan to hold out until I get the green light from my DR. Plan to go back to work at 4 weeks if I am cleared to do so by my doctor.

Still have problems sleeping at night though. Woke up at 4 am this morning when my husband got up to go to work and I just got up with him. I have never had problems sleeping in my life so this is strange.

hang in there ladies and good luck with your recovery!

Believe it our not in the United States, I live in Boise, Idaho. We are still very lucky with our prices here and we do have very good Health providers. Our cost of living is alot less that other areas but also is the amount of money we make so it goes hand in hand.

Take Care...

Morning ladies. My TAH was on December 5th. I'm feeling pretty good today. Last week was a little rough with emotion, but I'm doing better now. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year and after 1 failed surgery opted to have a TVH. I actually looked forward to my surgery. Having 4 children - one just 5 months old - being in the hospital seemed like a vacation and 2 nights of good sleep I haven't had in months! LOL

Hi Debbiesweety -

From my experience bending over was the worst thing to do. I tried doing the laundry that my husband carried down to the basement at 3 weeks. The bending over made me really sore. But by 4 weeks it was much better and last week (at 5 weeks) it wasn't a problem at all.

At two weeks I tried to help out by straightening up around the house the best I could, rinsing off plates after dinner, and paying bills.

You'll feel so much better each week when you rest and take care of yourself.
