Is my belly button incision infected?

I am 4 wks post op today, and I haven't had any incision problems until today. I was shopping earlier today, and I noticed that when my little girl gave me a hug, my belly button felt tender. I just got home and checked it, and it's red on one side (on the inside) and there's a little lump underneath it. There's no discharge or anything. I can't see the incision...I don't know if it's just the shape of my belly button, or because it's swollen. Should I just clean it with hydrogen peroxide and just keep an eye on it? Thanks for your help! Hope everyone is feeling okay!

Is my belly button incision infected? (update!)

Jenn, due to the redness and the lump, I would put a call in to the doctor, just to be safe. Good luck, and let us know what happens!

Well, it's infected!

As I posted yesterday, my belly button started getting tender and pink yesterday, and also a little swollen. Well today, it started turning red and swollen, with a red ring around it. It was extremely tender. But what really scared me was when a light brown liquid w/ blood in it, started pouring out of my belly button--literally! I had to get a couple of paper towels b/c it was coming out so fast! EW! I got my butt to the dr. asap! He said that the skin is infected and it's caused my incision to open, and so I've got peritoneal fluid coming out! How scary is that??? He put me on Keflex 4 times a day for 7 days. I'm supposed to call asap if I get fever or if ANYTHING gets any worse. Thanks for everyone's advice/help yesterday! Pray that this gets better soon!
