I am thinking now that maybe I had a panic attack....my mind wouldn't stop focusing on bad things......how I wished I'd never had the surgery and how I thought my life would never be the same.
Anxiety.
I am going home (have been w/my parents since surgery) Friday. I think things will get much better then.
Will keep everyone posted.

Grace,

I've had several panic attacks after surgery. They are scary and exhausting. Anxiety for me after surgery was terrible. Keep working at relaxing and finding a balance. I feel so much better now. I think patience is what I needed too. Some medication helped me through the worst part but I don't need it now. It will get better as you heal. God Bless you. I hope you sleep well tonight. Kathy

Thank you for your reply, Kathy. Yes, I need patience, and I also want to get over this in one day LOL. I teach 3rd grade, and have 3 kids...single mom, so, I constantly work at relaxing and finding a balance. I am on a med now for depression, so maybe that will kick in again soon. I was off 4 or 5 days during the surgery time.
Thank you!
I'm glad you are feeling better.

Grace,

I think you may have had a major panic attack. Sometimes if you were taking an SSRI, and went off of it during surgery, you can start having panic attacks. It is also common to have panic attacks after surgerys anyway.

I agree that you need to follow up on this, especially for your own peace of mind. If your regular doc, or gyn can't figure it out a good psychiatrist will be able to sort it out too.

Take care.

Just an update. I did not have any more episodes last night...I wouldn't let myself go to sleep for fear it would happen again.
Will call psychiatrist today.
Thanks to everyone for their help and replies!

I'm sorry that your doctor didn't call back. Your symptoms are very real and you shouldn't be ignored. Hugs from here.

Instant Menopause (Help Please) -- Update!

Hello Grace, I just saw your posts. Hot flashes have never caused me pain either, only Whew, like fire on my back and lots of perspiration. I too suffer from stress and anxiety, my jaw has been stiff and sore from stress the past few weeks. Anxiety can really confuse and bewilder, sounds as if you had a really bad episode last night. I know what you mean about focusing on bad things, I cant stop it either, I really do try to think positive like the OLD ME.. but its hard.. I am trying to get my HRT regulated and once I do hopefully it will all take care of itself... GOOD LUCK please keep us posted on the dr call FEEL BETTER. I take anti anxiety meds called ativan for a few years now since I started my later peri menopause days, seems to help. I also quit drinking coffee unless its decaf a few years ago too. Who needs the added tension? NON OF US!
