Anyone else with a new best friend?

I have found that since my surgeries, I have a new best friend. My heating pad. While my insulated thermal hospital cup with built-in bendy straw (I now have a collection of three of these) is a close second, my heating pad is going to be buried with me someday. Hopefully turned on to the highest setting, as I'm sure I'll get cold.... Of course for now, I use it for all sorts of annoying persistent discomforts, like lower back ache, tummy pain, chilly toes, and even occasionally to sit on (to ease the hemmies...).

Anyone else making new friends out there other than these fine ladies here?

Oh dear -- I thought I had it bad with the three!!! God bless you, woman! Glad to know someone else out there is so in love with their heating pad -- I was starting to feel unfaithful to my dear husband for as much time as I spend with my Pad.

Anyone else with a new best friend?

Dina
I used a rice bag, heated in the microwave a lot and I used to call it my new best friend. Heat was very soothing on my back and tummy. It's definitely worth a try on post op aches and pains.

Wow, thanks for the info! I had been ice packing it (10 days post op here) and noticed that it did feel good when my cockapoo snuggled in my lap! LOL! DUH! Guess I'll break out my heating pad! BTW, my very dear longtime friends, my bed pillows, have become frenemies! They won't help me sleep at night!!

I have my very faithfull heating pad at the ready all of the time.but I think that my 2 jackrussels make great heatingpads when I go to bed and they cuddle up next to my tummy and back(one on each side!)

I want a thermal cup collection! Sadly, my surgery/hospital souvenir collection consists of 4 pairs of those ridiculous tread socks. Blue from thyroid surgery, white from 1st laparoscopy, charcoal from 2nd laparoscopy, and dove gray from my hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. The blue ones are 11 years old. My daughter thinks I've lost my mind because I've saved all my socks.

Love my heating pad! I also loved my microwaveable herbal heat pad -- unfortunately I used it so much, the herbs have a burnt smell!

Put me down for the hospital cup! Only I haven't used the straw because it increases the gas you get. I haven't used a heating pad, but I may buy one this weekend. I've just froze a bottled water, slipped it in DH's sock and lay it on my belly in my recliner.

Anyone else with a new best friend?

NINE thermal cups!??!?! Oy!!

I have several pairs of tread socks from over the years myself, but my recent castle stays (3 in a row) only earned me two pairs -- one in lovely powder blue, and the other in a somewhat baby-poop brown... think they were sending me a message??

And sister3, I can relate on the pillow front. Although after getting completely exhausted over the last eight weeks, I find that I am sleeping regardless of my pillows. They aren't anywhere near as comfy as they once were, and I've realized through all this that my mattress is a useless, rock-hard, literal pain in the neck! Thus the heating pad.... love of my life, sweet saviour of warmies, dearest of dear friends....

Oh, yeesh -- did I just type that out loud???
