When can I take a tub bath?

I am so anxious to get in the bathtub. I am 9 days post surgery and would just love to take a nice warm bath. I forgot to ask my dr.
Thanks for your advice.

When can I take a tub bath?

I am 9 days post surgery as well, and for the last 3 nights, I've taken a bath. I just put enough water in so it doesn't come up to the incision, and then when I am done bathing, I make sure I rinse off with clean warm water. I just need to take a bath before going to bed, it makes all the difference.
I only have steri strips on my incision, no staples or stiches. I don't know if that matters.

When can I take a tub bath?

I was told not till the dr gives you the go, at your post op he will tell you if the cuff is healed up and baths are safe. taking a bath and the cuff nto healed can cause an infection or slow the healing. good luck .

When can I take a tub bath?

In the event of sounding really stupid, what is the cuff?

It is never stupid if you learn something

It is never stupid if you learn something and that is what this site is all about -- and if you did not ask the question -- someoone else would have .

when your cervix is removed, the top of your vagina is sewn to make the vaginal cuff.

As for the bath
it is always best to check with your doctor --
as sitting in a pool of water can increase the chance of infection.

When can I take a tub bath?

I was told no bathing until cleared by the doctor... kind of goes with the "nothing in the vagina" rule... and that was for 6 weeks at least.

And... thanks for the info on what a vaginal cuff is.. I had no idea!

10/26/07 TAH/BSO with removal of cervix and tubes.. HRT in process!

When can I take a tub bath?

I was told no bath for two weeks and I had a TVH (again due to possible infection. Just like swimming). After my two-week she said it was okay...only one problem, I really don't have a bathtub--BUMMER! I wish I did. I am jealous of you ladies who do....

Best wishes!
