From 271lbs to 246 in 2wks?WHAT THE...

Ok , I am healthy as a horse and my recovery is going well. My blood pressure is geat, cholestorol is beautiful, believe it or not I do exersise. The decision to have my hysterrectomy was based on the fact that I "flood" monthly with undieing pain and yada, yada. My doctor also believed that this surgery would help in my weight lose battle because my metabolism was at its lowest. Ive battle this for years with not just no results but actually gaining weight with no explainations. [Feeling alittle like a genuie pig at times].. I always knew something was wrong because Im also a health food nut and and Iobsess over what goes in my body. Thiriods are also fine so you can imagine I was at witts end. I came home from the hospital 10lbs heavier and broke down. I was horrified!!!!! Now 2weeks and five days later I am 245.5, that 26lbs.W-H-A-T!!!!!!!!! Can this be real.? I know my body is going to change but W O W. Is this to much?Should I be concernd? I still have alot of sides effects from the surgery like gas and bloating AND even a UTI,ick, but otherwise I am feeling super good. Should I be concerned about this weight loss. OR SHOULD I JUST SHUT AND ENJOY THIS....... Should I tell my doctor or surprise him? Help me ladies, I dont know wat to be concerned about or not

I wouldn't worry. At your weight, fluid can cause huge fluctuations in short amounts of time. Couple that with surgery, hormones flaking out and the bowel issues and it isn't too extreme. If you had not been eating, had constant diarrhea, were extremely dehydrated or some other sort of unusual symptoms, then you might have cause for concern.

I lost an immediate 12 pounds after the sugery and now that I'm close to six weeks post-op and can really pour it on in the gym, my body is tigtening up all over.

I was sooooo flabby and full of fluid all of the time beforehand it was awful! I really beleive that getting rid of that "build up" has to have an impact. Especially on those women who had the constant bleeding, cramping, bleeding, etc....

Your doctor will weigh you anyway and ask what's going on when he/she sees you for a check up, but you might want to call and make sure everything is okay just in case.

Best wishes!

I do have one ovary left and Im not on hormones. My appetite is shot-out but I do eat when I dont feel like Im going to barf. I havent been on any meds since my 4th day home so it wouldnt be that still would it? I know my body is going through a big adjustment right now and I get that. Im just alittle concerned about the DROP OFF in weight... You think its okay? Anyone experience this?

I've lost about 15 pounds in two weeks, much to my delight.

I figure some of it is the loss of my uterus and fibroids and the rest is my reduced appetite. I hope this trend continues because I NEED to lose weight.

I was at 194 the morning of my surgery and now at 6 weeks out, I am at 170. That's 24 lbs, the lowest I've been in a few years. So sit back and enjoy it! I hear that usually women gain weight after a hyster.

Ive noticed that......... My belly is still very swollen and the rest of me is thinning... I put my jeans on today and they dont fit anymore. Good feeling but it did kinda freak me out that Im lossing weigt so fast.271lbs makes me sound huge but Im not. Im 6ft and I have a large build. You should see me when I weigh 170-175. I look weird cuz my shoulders are huge and so is my ribcage and at 170 you can see my ribs easily. A good weight for me is about 180-185. Its nice to know I just may be on my way back to my ideal weight. This just might be a really good start to a period and pain free new life

LavendeRose,
I saw in the pink writing of your reply that you kept 1/2 of your cervix. How do you do that? And why? I know I am being nosey, but I have not heard of that anywhere on this site. Thanks!
