spotting 3 weeks after?

Hello Everyone!
I just found this site and so glad I did. I had an abdominal hyster. with removal of the cervix, but kept my ovaries (dr. said they were healthy) on Nov. 19th. So far I am feeling great, just get tired if I do too much. This morning I woke up to find I am spotting, much like what happens before a period. Is this normal? This would normally be the time for my period so I am thiking it's my body's way of getting rid of old blood? Did anyone else do this?

spotting 3 weeks after?

I also experienced spotting, and mine happened right around my 2 1/2 week mark. This just happened to be Thanksgiving. Scared me to death. I thought that I had really messed up and hurt myself. Called doctor and was told that this is perfectly normal. This occurs when the stitches in the vaginal cuff begin to dissolve. As long as it is just spotting, I wouldn't worry. If you get heavy bleeding, then I would call the doctor.

Wishing you a better day today than yesterday!

I am not sure about that. I have a total abdominal hysterectomy on Oct 31-07 and just had a bit of bleeding for a few days. I too have no cervix but do have my ovaries. I would maybe give your ob a call.

spotting 3 weeks after?

Hi jj4 , I am almost 8 weeks TAH/BSO and spotted for exactly 5 weeks after my surgery. My doctor told me to expect this and that it was perfectly normal. The only thing she cautioned me about was if I had an increase in bleeding or if it was bright red I should call her right away. That actually did happen and she examined me, said I had "popped" a stitch but was still healing just fine. If you are feeling the least bit apprehensive, though, I would give your doctor a call. If nothing else it will give you peace of mind...which is worth a lot!

s and Blessings, Lisa

spotting 3 weeks after?

Thanks everyone. The spotting is really light and brown. I did do some shopping a few days this week and I think my body wasn't ready for as much as I did. I am going to rest for the next few days and see how it goes. If it gets worse I will call my dr.

I would guess your spotting is completely normal. I'm at 6 weeks and I still have occasional episodes. At my 6-week check up yesterday, my doctor said it was to be expected.

Annoying though, isn't it?
