Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

I just want to encourage everyone who is feeling great not to feel guilty about it, or feel like you shouldn't post about it. It's wonderful and inspiring! I envy you, but I think it's terrific that some feel so good!

I think a lot of times, the reason it seems like there are a lot of negative posts is because the people who feel good do just that... they feel good and they move on from the board. Many of the ones who remain are the ones that aren't feeling up to par or may be experiencing complications. I know that mind over matter and keeping a positive attitude is good, but the body doesn't always go along with that. It is a fine line... some might not want to post about a problem if people might think they're just whining... while others might not want to post about feeling good, because they feel like they'll be overlooked.

I hope everyone keeps posting to share how they're doing, because you never know when you might post something that really helps someone else out!

Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

Good for you, I think you are very lucky. Please be careful out there! I felt good, too at first. I stopped my pain meds around day 3 as I needed to go potty (I know, whole other board) Then, at day 9 after surgery I just had to go and use a store coupon to get grandson new shoes. He did really need them, and I did not want to wait til weekend for someone to help me. BIG mistake, HUGE. I forgot, and squatted down. Yeah more than once. Yowsa.
I came right home and went to bed.
They only warned me about driving while taking pain meds, (Darvocet).
I have printed up the quote,' I only have one chance to let me body properly heal'. Was sorely tempted to put it on my voice mail! I had my family calling me, repeatedly, my 1st week home asking if we were all having Christmas dinner at my house! I said I did not know, sorry.
Also, be careful with the prunes, Activia, etc. Gas pains are not something
I needed either. One way to get some space, though.
I know I am fortunate. We were all prepared to do an abdominal hysterectomy. My Dr informed me as I was going down the hall to the OR
that she wanted to try to go Vag. I was about the size of 11 weeks with numerous degenerating fibroids. It was torture being examined, she did the final exam pre-op while I was under.
I had a total Vag and kept my ovaries. I felt like I really lucked out. I was in a lot of pain, for a long time before having my surgery. I was so scared I had to get Hypnotherapy to go through with it.
I had arranged to be off work for 8 weeks. Now, I feel like I should go back sooner. I really need to get over that, who cares what someone who does not understand will think.
I was too scared to explore the post op info here until now.
Christmas vacation next week, and will have the 6 yr old grandson while his Mom is at work. He is alternately sweet and cooperative, or totally naughty.
I know he has a lot to process, and I am trying to be patient.
I am asking for Christmas dinner to be a potluck.

Happy Holidays to all.

Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

I, too, felt extremely well shortly after surgery. What this site did for me was make me realize what COULD happen if I don't excecise some moderation in what I do. In that respect, the negativity here is an asset.

I have been on ladders, 10 feet high, at under 2 weeks post op. At 2 1/2, I walked 10-12 blocks, going into numerous stores, shopping. At 3 1/2 weeks, I'm scheduled to roast a turkey. But skiing, which the doctor said I could do, if I felt up to it, is not going to happen. Do I feel up to it? yes. Do I realize that I could herniate the incision? Now I do. And shame on my doctor for saying I could ski! I don't fall often, but I ski fast, and when I fall, it's a yard sale.
So, negativity has it's place, and it's advantages. This site keeps me humble and appreciative of how easily I'm having a recovery.
I'm not at 3 weeks yet, but drove 2.5 hrs. one way on a shopping trip today. It was a long day, but no pain. No lifting either.....tomorrow morning, all that wine will be moved inside, 2 bottles at a time!
Merry Christmas, all, and may the New Year bring blessings to us all!

Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

I am going to see my Dr today because he is going out of town next week. I feel just as good as you do. Everyone told me I would feel so much better but I didn't believe them, but now I do. I only took pain meds 4 times after the surgery and I have a few things to do today. I have to get them fone due to the snow storm that is predicted for tomorrow.
