Welcome back, LadyDB! Keep up the good work!!!! Look forward to more e-mails from you all.

(As a paramedic, I'm sure the ambulance crew has seen a lot more things than they would want to on others. I know it's a matter of your dignity. It's a part of the job that we assume, and sometimes forget, that the patient may be modest.)

Better each day

What can anyone tell me about staple removal - I have 22 or so that need to come out tomorrow? Pain??

This surgery was hard... Had to get the two pints of blood i donated back as my blood count went so low. I am doing more every day - today I rigged a razor to a pole inorder to shave my legs (starting to look like a bear) and washed my hair by myself. Beleive me that was alot for a day and worthy of a nap!

At least I know that EVERYTHING is now behind me and I can plan a real vacation for next year. It is good to be walking pain free (as soon as the surgery site heals and the muscles remember what they are supposed to do with my leg).

Sorry I didn't read this sooner, but I was at work and school. I'm sure youv'e had the staple removed by now, but it's a fairly simple thing. There is a small staple remover(similar to the paper type, but not exactly), that slides under and spreads them open, as they come up and out of the skin. There can be a pinching feeling, but usually not to bad. Depending on how well the site is healing, will depend on how tender you are at the surgical site.
Hope it all went well for you, and I wish you a speedy recovery!!!!!

Hello Ladies, Well, I am a year older and what a year it has been for all of us!! Lady Db I'm sop glad to hear you are doing good. I will keep praying 4 you. I still have some twinges in the incision every now and then. Ovies still hurt about 3 days out of the month. Its crazy!! when they start to hurt I feel like I need to get a tampon or a pad. Then I think oh ya !! I dont need one!! It is so weird. It gets me every month. I got a really beautiful tattoo on my foot to represent new life. I have 3 butterflies and these really pretty flowers all around. I have cut some people put of my life and I am trying to forgive my family for not being there. it is so hard. u Know? I have always had a hard time forgiving. My new baby neice has arrived and she is such a blessing. It has been hard for me to accept the fact that this is the way it is supposed to be. "God doesn't give us what we cannot handle." I just wish I knew why it has to be so hard for some of us. Ladies take care and God bless you all!! Sorry to vent !! love you all, Sarah

Hi everyone

over a month since anyone wrote and flet the sudden urge to get in touch.

I'm on school summer holidays now so I have 5 weeks off...yay.

Still having some little issues..sill some swelling when I do too much ( often), and a few pulling feelings. Mini periods still seem to be happening, but hormones have settled down...

Still seeing my new partner and about to go on holiday to Greece. He's lovely and I'm so lucky to have found him.

My daughter graduated from university with a good degree and all my 'children' are now back at home for the summer, which is hard work but good fun most of the time.

Hope you're back on your feet and pain free DB
Also hope some of you may come back and tell me how you are doing?

Take care all

Hi! Glad you wrote Ellie! It's funny but I've noticed that I don't always get notified about new messages being posted - I wonder if they drop you if you don't post - but then I got this one. Strange!

It is so great not getting a period. I sure don't miss the pain. I am having some other health issues now which really bums me out.

Seems diverticulosis runs rampant on my father's side of the family and even though I'm only 42 and vegetarian and eat a high fiber diet I had my first attack of diverticulitis last Friday that put me in the hospital for 4 days!

Now I'm home and on antibiotics and clear liquids. Blah. I'm feeling better but hungry!

The good news is that this is my last week of work! I go on a little vacation to New Mexico next week and then I start school (College after 20 years!) on the 11th!

So glad to hear that things are going well with the man! I've spent time on Lesvos at a yoga retreat once - I love Greece! We go to Cyprus pretty often - We have friends there. Love the sea!

Also glad to hear that the hormones have settled down. My hormones are still a little wacky but much better.

Hope you have a wonderful summer!

Back on my Feet!

It has been 7 weeks since I had my hip replaced. I am walking without a walker or a cane since week four and staying committed to the exercise routine. Got the hospital bill and found out a titanium hip costs about $30K!

You may have heard that Souther California had a 5.4 earthquake. I was 10 miles from the epicenter. I was in my home office and a picture came flying off and upper shelf at me so when I stood up to catch it it cut my thumb and it is pretty black and blue now. When I stood up I hurt my leg a bit (twisted the wrong way on the surgical leg standing too fast) but I took some Alieve and rested the rest of the day and I am not as bad today. We had alot of things fall off shelves, lamps fall over, etc. However - since my surgery I had spare pillows all over the house and the stuff I hope would not break landed on the pillows!!!! What luck! my son, hussband and the dog were outside doing some yard work. My sister Brenda (in from Texas) experienced her first earthquake but she was in No. Hollywood and "enjoyed the ride".

The hip was harder than the TAH/BSO but I am glad they are both behind me and out of the way. Took 10 weeks off for the hip and I go back to work for the fall semester on 8/25.

What is new with you all?

WOW! Lady DB you have had quite a year. Glad to hear that you are up and moving. Earthquakes are really scary. We have had them here in Ohio and it was scary enough for me. Hope that no one was hurt and all are doing ok.

I miss the conversations we had on here and hope that everyone is doing fine and not too busy.

I am still having major hot flashes and this hot weather is not helping. Although I am a part-time cashier in a grocery/dept. store and everyone comes through my line complaining about it being cold in the store and I am standing there sweating. That part is different for me because I was the one that was always cold before the surgery.

Just wanted to check in and say Hello! to everyone.

Yesterday was 11 weeks since my hip replacement. I went back to work and it is orientation week at the community college I work at which will be a strain on the hip. The hip has replaced my thinking about the TAH/BSO. But strangely I every now and then have a hot flash - I will be 58 in a week so that is odd!!!!.

Since the postings have been so lite - I figure everyone is back with their lives and doing well. I was mentioning to by BH that I have not heard from the girls in a while and then I get the post from you DW5382 - Thank you!
