Hysterectomy dates Dec 10-Dec 17,2007

Back on with their lives, but must still be thinking about this from time to time. I certainly do...still get some swelling after a long day....and my scar is still qute prominent, although it is finally beginning to fade.

Having to work hard to get myself back into shape. Am looking at our anniversary as the point where I expect to have no more twinges. I still have the mini-periods to remind every month of course...I don't mind so much now, as I still have hormonal mood swings and it's quite reassuring to know that they are real.

Have a had an amazing Summer As a teacher I have over 5 weeks off - been off almost as much as working it seems this year.

I took my daughter to Prague for a few days, which was gorgeous. She has just graduated, so it was great to spend some time with her...then went to Paris with Paul for a few days. Up the Eifle Tower and down the Seine. He speaks French, and I get by so we really enjoyed relaxing into the wine and amazing food thing.

Back to work on Monday, and I know I will find it hard again, but someone has to pay the bills...

Glad to hear you are getting better Lady DB and hope the sweats aren't getting you down too much Debbie. I seem to have come off remarkably unscathed so far in the hormone department.

Take care

Hi there!

It is good to see that everybody is apparently so busy that the postings become very irregular. I am happy Lady DB for you that all is behind you now, you are the new 6 million dollar woman! (or is it the 30k USD woman :-) )
We just returned from a lovely diving holiday in Indonesia, it was wonderful we did more than 53 dives, meaning we were this holiday around 53 hours under water! Coming Monday I will start with a new job, I look forward to it very much! and early october my speed skating lessons start again (YEAH!) I am so happy that I had the operation, I am extremely lucky to have absolutely zero side-effects and even my scar is, although still visible, not really ugly, I always see a slightly smiling face, with my nipples as the eyes and my belly button as the nose! Being on holiday without having to plan your period is also an absolute blessing. And I really enjoyed my white linen trousers! I now have three pairs!

O.K. that's all from me for now, I will check in in a few weeks or so and naturally I will be around when we celebrate our one-year anniversary!

Take care you all!
Crispy D.

LOL jgtalk. Yes I would like to have a reunion. I miss my buddies and the talks we had. I am about to make an appointment with my gyn doc for my annual checkup. I cannot believe that it is almost a year since the surgery and other than the hot flashes and night sweats I feel so good.

Have been busy and not able to get on here as much. I just want to let all of you know that I miss you and the great talks we had. I hope to see all of you on here for the 1 year anniversary.

Our anniversary! (almost!)

Sisters one and all,

Our one-year anniversary is almost here. I know I've pretty much vanished from this group online, but when I turned my kitchen calendar to December, I started to cry.

We all went through it, and had each other to hold onto.

I've done a lot of work this year, writing, painting, traveling, catching up with friends... but I know in my heart that so much has changed since my hysterectomy.

My doctors and I still haven't figured out the right hormonal approach to keeping me centered in all the ways I need to be.

I'll be seeing a new, holistic md, in a few weeks, feeling hopeful about it.

I look very forward to hearing from many of you as we move into these symbolic dates. Reading through many of the entries I've missed these past months, thank you to all for sharing so much of yourselves.

Hugging you, each and every,

Siri

Hi, get ready for the reunion!!!!!

Crispyduck.... good luck on skating!!!! I was doing a spin about six weeks ago in my lessons, and feel down with a CRACK sound in my leg. I thought for sure I broke it, and went to the Emergency room. No break, just a REALLY bad sprain. It is still swelling now six weeks later. I think maybe I had a hairline fracture that didn't show up on the x-ray. I am in physical therapy now (and still sneaking off to skate too, I am in lessons again).

I am having problems with urinary incontinence now, but they put me in physical therapy for it. Did anyone else get that? Now, they want me to try using vaginal weights... kind of bizarre, but I am willing to give it a try if it will help.

They also did some kind of strechy-pully thing on my scar. It didn't feel too well when they did it, but surprisingly, now it is looking much flatter and better. I only have this very tiny fine white line, with only a little bit of puckering. It healed up pretty good and no longer swells at all.

Oh well, I will write back again on the 11th. I miss you all!!! It made ALL the difference in the world to have other sisters to speak with about all of these things.

Happy Anniversary!

Dear Hyster Sisters,
It is hard to believe one year has passed since surgery.
I just remember how scared I was in the days before and how surprised I was at the discomfort level afterwards. Finding this site and having contact with others in the same situation was so comforting.

I recovered well and since I had already gone through menopause, did not have some of the issues many of you had. I continue to have my 6 month cancer check ups and have been all clear. I get a little nervous when I see that date come up on the calendar! I continue to work on my weight issue and have managed to lose about 50 pounds. It took a long time, but I have regained all my energy back...still get the occasional twinge as a reminder of what happened I guess!!

As we go into the Christmas season, memories get stirred up...putting our Christmas tree up in mid-November, the parred down family gatherings, the frantic phone calls from my children and sibs, the unspoken fears on everyones faces. That time is a bit of a blur for me.

Hope all is well for everyone. I will check in later in the day. Best wishes to you all and thank you for all the support you have offered.
Love to all, Linda

WOW! It is so hard to believe that we are at the one year anniversary. I have missed the conversations that we had and the support. You are all a great group and I hope that you have had a great year.

I am fully recovered from the surgery and still fighting the hot flashes 24/7. I have stopped all meds and have decided to try and make it without them. I will probably have to go on some when the weather gets warm again but for now I just go outside for a few and it calms them down.

Hope all is well with all of you and that we can keep in touch.

elle 64 glad to hear the boyfriend is going good.

Hope to hear from all
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi Everyone. Wow - can't believe a year has gone by. I'm feeling mostly recovered. I'm still having a little pain with intercourse (total bummer actually!) but otherwise thrilled to not have the monthly thing and not have to keep vicodin with me at all times.

I went back to school this fall after 20+ years as some of you know. Tomorrow is my last final for the semester - I think I'll write a little more tomorrow after I'm through... Wish me luck!
