I have been in the house now for a week now losing my mind because I my mind wants to get up and do something but my body is saying no. I am going to try to go to Walmart today and we will see how I feel afterwards. I finally had a BM which was exciting for me. I am very grateful for this site because it is helping me tremendously in my recovery process.

Sounds like you are doing good to be posting so soon to me. My TAH was Dec 10...the gas stays a while, but have faith, this too shall pass (pun intended!). It was really surprising to me how much energy the surgery drained from me, and how little I have even though surgery went better than I expected. Keep an eye on the fever and don't hestitate to call DR. I developed cellulitise 17 yrs ago with C sect. Take care.

Hi Traci,

Mine was a lot like yours! I had a huge hematoma, lots of nausea, stomach problems. I had a little fever too. Did they do a blood test to test for infection?

I found out later that I got the stomach flu at the same time. I am about 1/1/2 weeks out and am just starting to eat normally and walk around. Don't compare your progress to others. Everybody is different. Just take it slow and easy on yourself, and call your doctor if you aren't feeling better. They will keep an eye on you if you let them know about it.

I sure hope you are feeling better today...I will be praying for you. I also had a temperature of bet 101-102.3 for 3 days but didn't have any signs of infection so my DR and I are just watching this ...he calls me 2X a day. Finally yesterday the fever left and I feel much better. I cant imagine having the flu on top of the surgery

GET WELL SOON

I am home and feeling great. I was able to go home by noon on the 18th but I have just now been able to get on. I can honestly say this was easier than my C-section over 17 yrs ago.

It looks like I am finally on the mend. I was able to do some running around this am. (Two stores for 10 mins each) and I came home and took a long nap and now I am going to one last store but I will be riding the electric cart thing.

Mary Kay,
Its easy to get overwhelmed with everything going on right now. I am sorry for the loss of your sister and if you ever need to talk, I am here.

Everyone take care,

Earlier today I had my mind made up that I was going to leave the house and go to Walmart, but in my attempt to get ready I made up the bed and folded up some clothes and I have been sleep since. My body just couldn't do it.

TAH - with cervix removed on 12-12-07 at 9:00 am. Kept both ovaries.
Catherer was removed the next morning at 6:00 am, the nurse helped me get to bathroom and sit in chair by 9:00 am. Was walking the halls that afternoon. Home on Friday.
Worst part for me was the "swelly-belly", gas pains and a sore back from leaning forwards ( I guess)... This all passed by Sunday. Monday I felt great and have been getting stronger each day.
Only used Oxycotin the day after returning home from the hospital, nothing else since.
It was much easier than I was expecting, so hang in there and heal well.

Hi everyone--I am over my pouting and trying to get over my sorrow at losing my ovaries unexpectedly when all I thought I was going to lose was my uterus. I had my TLH on Dec 11th at night so I am into Week 2 now.

Okay... I have to ask---is anyone else having problems with excruciating gas pains in the intestine every time they eat or drink that causes them to wince and gasp and then run to the toilet and pass little amounts of BM? I can't be far from a toilet when I eat or drink due to acute spasms and then excrutiating pain while I sit on the toilet and await the event. My stool isn't "hard"---it is the opposite but the whole "event" is just terrible. Is this normal or do you think my intestines are screwed up from the surgery?
My bladder function isn't totally on target yet either. I go and then get up and then feel like I have to go again. Sometimes I don't even feel like going and then try and tons of urine comes out! I am trying to do the kegel exercises to help.

Food wise, my appetite is back but then I eat too much and feel really ill afterwards and my stitches start to hurt. My belly is still swollen in the lower region --a lot.

I am still tired and not on pain relief other than these awful headaches I am getting periodically thru the day which is when I reach for pain relief. Is anyone else getting bad headaches???

Okay- enough whinging...I feel better now---hope everyone else is entering week 2 in good spirits and good health too.
