As bad as this sounds I am kinda glad to see someone else who isn't skating thru this. I was starting to think I was a big baby! I am still running around with a bag along side my leg and burning pains whenever I move!
A few friends of mine had hysto's and they say that the bowels can go haywire for a while. Ask if you can try Maalox tablets before meals. That helps me alot. The gas x just hurts! Eat light to allow the bowels to move easier. No spices and try not to eat greens, they cause terrible gas. I am just starting to eat pasta again. Cream soups and jello helps alot. I am sorry about your ovaries. I lost the right one. And I find whining to actually make me feel better so you can whine all you want. With what your going thru you have a right. I hope and pray you will start feeling better.

Eat lots of fruit--maybe I am eating too much which is why I am going all the time. The headaches are terrible aren't they? Why are we getting them???? I will try tylenol instead for mine. The heating pad helps me a lot so use it. I hope you feel better--you sound miserable! Walk a lot too when you are better. I am walking every morning and every afternoon for about 30 minutes per walk. It seems to help. I am sending good vibes your way!!!!

tinylibrarian and bremcac,

I have been having the same problems. I have found that keeping up on my fiber and drinking 80 to 100oz of water each day to help. It still hurts like heck when a BM occurs but I think that is just the way things are for us for a while. It sucks but such is life.

I eat mostly fresh fruit, salad and frosted mini-wheat cereal.

As for pain, I am still taking 3-4 pain pills a day along with advil. I try to not take them but become too uncomfortable without it. I am hoping that this ends by the end of the weekend and I can start on just advil with a pain pill for ease of sleeping.

We will get through this. It might be a little bit of a rough ride but we can do it. Look at the pain and the misery we put up with before the surgery.

Take care,

So I'm at day 9 post op and doing ...okay I think. Not perfect but okay. Good things: not too much pain - still taking 600mgs ibuprofen every 6-9 hours (i forget alot but then the pain starts to remind me), I'm moving around a lot and it feels good. Having bms but they are really off schedule/irregular. Over all I feel pretty good.

But then the not so great things: not able to sleep very much, nausea on and off during the day. Haven't thrown up but just feel kinda ill sometimes. Still feeling sore and swollen at the end of the day.

Oh...I had a hot flash! Yesterday. I kept my ovaries - is it still normal to have a hot flash post hyst? Maybe I'll post a thread. It totally freaked me out. I'm 42.

I went to book club last night and we had a chocolate party - ate way too much chocolate! We just read Chocolat by Joanne harris and felt we needed to have a chocolate orgy. I was tired and the belly got swelly but I did okay.

Today I went to the paper shop and then to the yarn shop and out for a coffee with a friend - felt good, just a little low energy.

I had an acupuncture treatment late afternoon and I felt like a rock star after that! My Dh told me not to walk so fast when we ran to Target afterwards. My acupuncturist said to avoid eating cold foods right now and to eat miso soup or chicken soup at breakfast. I told her I'd been eating bran cereal with soymilk to keep the fiber up but she said that was very bad for the constitution post surgery and that cold soy milk was horrible for digestion post surgery (I don't do much dairy). So I'll start back with miso soup - that's all I could eat the day or two post surgery. She said to get the fiber through warm food.

I'm still doing homeopathic remedies and taking extra vitamin A,C and Zinc. Bromelain between meals.

I can't wait to soak in a hot tub - I miss that! I'm dying for a big ol glass of red wine but I'm being good and staying away. I think I'll have one on Christmas eve!

Oh - I finished the project for that non profit I was working on. I worked on it for 33 hours since monday but luckily I was able to do most of it sitting in the recliner with my laptop. I set a timer to get up and walk every 30 minutes! I would get up and do a few laps around my house. I'm so glad to be done with it! Now I can get back to lounging around reading books and watching movies! Oh - and spending time on hystersisters!

finally posting after surgery

Hi ladies,
Finally posting after my surgery, everytime I would go downstairs to use the computer I could only read a couple posts before I'd get too tired and need to stop & nap again. Surgery for me went really well, my trouble started after a day at home when all of sudden I couldn't keep anything down. I ended up in the ER dehydrated and in a state of anxiety. My dh has helped as he can, but he is so busy, & my teenage ds, 18 & 17, don't quite "get" what I seem to need.
I've had so little pain physically since surgery yet so much emotional upheaval, my best friend passed away in Sept after a 6 year battle with cancer and my elderly parents aren't doing very well, - my dr. finally started me on anti-depressants along with hormone replacement but I really struggle to relax and not worry. I thought this would be a good time of year for my recovery as I am a teacher so holiday break is coming up soon, and the dr said I really shouldn't wait until summer break as that fibroid was obviously big enough already.
Well, hugs to all, this board / web site has been the "best" support I've had thru all the decisions and I feel blessed to be able to "listen" to other's accounts and know I am not alone.

Hi Laurel....does sound like you have been thru the ringer of emotions.....try to focus on you for now and getting better.....you will be of no help to anyone, students or parents if you are not emotionally well......it will all work out...I am sure alot of what you are feeling is more the hormonal changes than anything......hopefully they will become more stable with time..you are still very early out and this is such a busy time of year to try to relax.....believe that your best friend is now your guardian angel and will help you get on the better path to recovery from all the emotional upheaval.....I wish you the best and hope that it gets much better, fast for you.....hugs and prayers to you, Laurel

Tiggwifey,
Yesterday I got my mom to drive me to Target, it was so nice to get out! I rode in the motorized cart, but I was out of the house and grabbing some sanity! I was Great! Hang in There!

Tiny Librarian,
I too have been having a hard time with my bodily functions. When I urinate I feel such relief like some of the pressure is gone and then I feel like i have to go again, but sinec my bathroom is upstairs I try to hold it. And Bm's are painful from gas even through I continue to take stool softeners. I found that MINERIAL OIL a capful once a day in any liquid makes it come out easier. No headaches or nausea thank God!
Hang in there I hear it gets better!
