Back to Work

Hello to all,
First Ellie- Go have a good time and then rest up afterwards. Who knows this may turn your new year into a very Happy New Year!!

To everyone else - I just read all the post and got up on everyone's progress. Gald to hear the good reports. I know you are looking forward to a new year and a fresh start. The ones that are still having problems, I am sorry and will pray for your quick good health.

I went back to work on the 2nd of Jan. I have a desk job that is not bad, and most of the people are very nice and understanding. I worked one day last week that wiped me out. This week I have worked 8 hours each day and other than being very tired and doing nothing at home, I have made it ok. My DH has done the cooking at home and I have come home and done nothing.
But like someone else said we are all different and I don't have any small children to care for. Bless you all that do, I don't think I could do that and be able to reutrn to work.
I also have not had the problems that some have. We each have to listen to our bodies and do what is best for us.
I felt for myself it was best to get back on track and so far so good. I think it has helped my sanity.

Good luck to all of you and may all your year be filled with blessings.

Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy Dates Dec 10-Dec 17, 2007

Question - does anyone feel worse in this 3-4 week of recovery than you did in the 2-3 week? I'm bummed. I really felt good at my 2 week checkup with the Doc - but this past week I have been feeling tired, achy, painy (is that a word? Sorry, no it isn't) - and have pain in places around my abdomin.

Honestly, I felt I could go back to work - no problem - last week, but I know now there is NO WAY in you-know-where I could go back to work at this time. Now I'm glad I still have 3 more weeks to recoup. Didn't ever think I'd feel that way!

Could be because I'm pretty much off the meds that I came home with AND I did overdo at New Year's...but still I guess I thought it would be a continuous getting better instead of this feeling like I'm backsliding.

Just feeling a little down today - glad you're all here to "listen"!

Hope you're all doing better!

I was wondering the same thing. I'm getting some pains I hadn't, before. I just feel "BLAH", and I hit three weeks two days ago. (Almost "car-sick-like.) Maybe it IS from doing too much, BECAUSE we felt so good. I've been straightening, doing dishes, lightly broom-sweeping, and doing some laundry (NOT carrying any baskets..just putting clothing in the wash, a few at a time, switching them to the dryer, and then putting them in the basket. ) I haven't even DRIVEN, yet.
Doesn't seem fair, does it?
(I don't think we're alone, though).

I have to agree with Grace & mathteacher, I was really excited about my recovery and actually thought about calling the Dr and having her put me back to work Part Time for 2 weeks but it is not going to work. I drug myself out the bed this morning because I was determined to go and get my hair done today and now I feel like I have hit a brick wall. I am having pains that I never had before and a headache that will not leave. I don't want to go back on the pain meds I have been off them for a while I did take some Advil 2x's today but I just can't shake this "BLAH" "TIRED" feeling. And I am with you mathteacher I haven't even attempted to drive yet.

New to posting

Hello everyone, Thank you so much for all the answers and the laughs. I had a TVH with ovaries and cervix removed on 12/14/07. Thank God I found this site.
For all of you that see the dust bunnies growing, try living alone with 2 American Eskimo's in a studio apt !!! At christmas I was thinking of gluing one on top of another and making snowmen
Thank god when I moved back to San Diego I found my little studio by the beach, It came with the most precious new friends as landlords. Their house sits in front of mine so its not far to walk to visit. They took care of the dogs while I was in the castle, raised the bed and have been here every morning afternoon and night to feed the dogs, bring me meals do shopping ect !!!! I am so so blessed.
I don't want to go on too long on first post but does anyone else have to deal with fibromyalgia on top this. Talk about a double dose of fatigue. I do take 3600 mg of neurontin a day for nerve pain which seem to have really helped with the healing process .
Keep me laughing, well wishes to all the happy Hippie

I have to agree with those of you who are disappointed that they don't feel much better than the 2nd week home. After New Year, I definitely went backwards. With me it's general fatigue and a stiffness when walking..and I really have rested, not done anything at all..well kind of. Almost feel it isn't fair.

Don't know whether we have different advice here, but I've been told I shouldn't drive until atleast the 6 week mark. Luckily my kids are still home and drive, but it is a strange turn around-being dependent on them...good bonding for them though- they are acting as taxi's for eachother, realising how restricting that is..lol

I did however take your advice ladies and went on my slow walk around the park date..and Rocky - I can't deny it, I just looked a knock out in my sweats, wrapped up against the cold..lol. ..and the 'waiting for you know ' comment made me laugh - but you're right, got to be in the back of your mind.lol

I decided not to tell him he was a gift from heaven, jg - didn't want that to go to his head.

Had a nice time, and a smile, which is always good medicine..I'll keep you posted of any developments..lol

Sounds like some of us need serious cheering up - maybe it would be easier if we'd done this in the summer, when we could get out more..

Sitting here watching Notting Hill - is Hugh Grant supposed to make us feel better?
