Thank you Ellie for the nice compliment! To reassure you, I am not a Brit, I am actually of Chinese origin (....the duck should have given you the clue!...), but I grew up in the Netherlands, so I actually feel more Dutch than Chinese

Hey JGtalk,

Wow, figure skating! I don't think I will be any good in that! That's a whole different league, I just skate my rounds and already enjoy that to the max! It is such a nice feeling to skate, it is almost like flying, you go so fast!
Do you also skate with a partner?? It always looks so elegant!

I will let you know what my doctor tells me on Friday!

I am not a figure skater I am a quad roller skater and she gave me the ok to bet back on my wheels, she did say that I needed to start off slowly though.

And to talk about STD my job covered it and was based on my years of service. I had 7 weeks paid at 100% and then the next 4 weeks would have been at 65%. But part of my health care benefits I choose the option for Long care disability that would have covered me if I needed longer then the 12 weeks. I think that you should double check with you HR department and see exactly what you qualify for.

I finished my 3rd day back as a nanny. Today I thought I would give myself a break and dropped the 4 yr. old off at nursery school and took the 2.5 yr old to a library storytime which also includes some action songs, etc. I got up from the floor using the wall for support and tried to look enthusiastic as I hokey-pokeyed w/ 2.5 yr old. I glanced around and there were the young mommies & daddies still sitting on the carpet!!! So at least tonight I know I have earned my aches & pains! I am so exhausted by the end of the day & dealing w/ the insomnia still. I am now calling DH my "fairy-godhusband", he is being such a trooper thru this.

My Dr. said he didn't need to see me again unless I had a concern...no 6 week check up...am I the only one...I think I may call the office just to make sure I didn't misunderstand.

CA_Deelite, I have no medical knowledge, but I think with the anemia you will be more tired than some & may need longer recoup. My dd has anemia & had a rough recovery from 2 surgeries. Take good care of yourself.

LadyDB- I am so sorry you face more surgery! However, I have a friend (64 yrsl) who had hip replacement & she was so happy in the long run (finally pain free). Her only advice was to follow the therapy/rehab program to the letter. "Betty" did 4k every morning & was able to just over a year later.

Crispyduck-thanks for the race updates. I hope the "Canucks" were graceful losers!!

Best wishes everyone...I will look forward to your updates.

Return to Work

GraceHL, Short573, gmcolin2, sasalighting591 & ellie 64

Thank you for you responses earlier today. Just got home. Doctor did give me another week off from work. I don't go back until Feb 4th. I also am still having alot of pain on my right side. He couldn't explain. why. I also thought my frequent night urinations would go away after my surgery (maybe the cause of the fibroids and where they were located). But I am still getting up 3-4 x's a night to urinate. He ordered a urine sample. Still have to wait 2 weeks for sex and exercise, besides walking. Only can start excersing after that if my fatigue has gone away.

Also, get this. I have a bikini cut incision that is just 1/2 inch above my c-section scar (just above my pubic hair) and it looks terrific. HOWEVER, two days after I got home from the hospital and took of my bandage and tape I had acquired, what my doctor called, a very large tape blister. It is about the size of two sliver dollars. When the blisters broke about two days later, I was left with these two huge areas where the skin had come off and nothing but this large "raw flesh" area. For the next week I was putting antibiotic bandages on it waiting for it to stop bleeding (lightly) and to heal. the It is about an inch below my belly button. Today, my doctor said that when it heels it will be darker than my skin and may be pigmented (sp?). I can't believe that. It is right dab in the middle of my stomach. Most of us worry about scars from surgery and here I am having to worry about a scar from a result of my bandage from surgery.

Also, my stomach below my belly button is still numb. This may sound silly, but it feels creepy. Especially when I am applying the cocoa butter to my blister scar area. My doctor said that the numbness may not go away and if it does, it could take up to 6 months.

Return to work

[SIZE=1]Just wanted to make sure I didn't leave anyone else out that responded to my earlier post from today. This was my first time posting. It is kind of confusing trying to find all the replies to your specific post.

Thank you all!!!

hello girls, just like many of you I saw the doc today. I guess with having fibromyalgia on top of surgery healing can take a little longer, I was supposed to go back to work on the 28th now its feb11th!!! Just as well as having to work overnights in a 5x7 foot room counting money with no air conditioning with hot flashes and fibro pain, swellybelly, no sleep ect won't be much fun. I was looking forward to getting back to work hoping it might make me feel better by way of (working so hard you don't have time to think about pain !!) but I guess its true we only have one chance to heal properly and after this long it would be stupid to mess it up now.
I hope to get back on and post more often on my good days, a fibro flare can keep you from doing even the easiest things at times but at least I did follow you all each day. take care and my prayers are with each and everyone one of you. Happy Hippie
