Oh Sarah, one more tip to consider.

I actually have a mast cell disorder, which, for me influences the IC. I am on antihistamines daily for it.

I did a lot of reading about anti-inflammatory effects of omega-3 vitamins (fish oil). My mast cell specialist told me it was o.k. to try. I have been doing it for a couple years now, and have so far (knock on wood!) been doing pretty well. I found that this, coupled with my hysterectomy, has been a great relief of bladder pain.

You might want to ask your doctor about this as well. It is supposed to be beneficial for the heart, and lower cholesterol. Make sure you get the kind that are mercury-free if you try it, as some fish oil have high mercury due to pollution of ocean fish. You can ask at the pharmacy, they can show you which ones are good.

Just a thought. Ask your doc, and see what he says.

Josie, Mine told me that as well. It was nutrasweet, splenda, and sweetnlow. avoid all the sugar substitutes. They are also certain spices and herbs to stay away from too.

still spotting after sex

I had my hysterectomy (LAVH) on 12-12-2007. I have now been back to my doctor 3 times for spotting after sex. He now says I may have to go back to the OR to get this fixed. This is really getting old, and I just wonder if others have had this problem.

Hi everyone

like most of you, getting better every day. Lucky enough to have had 2 weeks off for Easter from school, so hoping to 100% when I go back.

I've still got some swelling in the evenings too, but nothing to make me feel too bad. Next term is the busy one though.

Sorry you're still having issues Sarah. I've never been a doctor person, but feel like I'm always there for some reason or another. Still have this bacterial infection, having some hormone issues and going to get a mole checked next week...something I never would have bothered with before all this.

Wish I could answer your question Ten. but as a single girl, I haven't been there yet. How patient am I? I would put a question on the post-op forum, I'm sure I've seen comments like that before, but not retained the answers. I hope there is no pain involved.

I think the 'this is getting old' comment, is even getting old. Atleast it's not the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning, not usually anyway.

I'm about to drive home now, having stayed at my sisters house last night, and had almost no sleep. She has 2 enormous ragdoll cats, who are absolutely bonkers. They sniff, sneeze, scratch at doors, climb over you, drag things around - one sounded like a bark it was that loud - love cats, but these guys are really annoying.lol

The diet thing sounds like healthy eating to me - all that chemical sweetner stuff and caffeine - interesting about the herbs though -you expect natural stuff to be good for you don't you?

Take care all

Hello ladies!

It has been a long time since I have posted on here. It seems we aren't posting as much these days. Hope that is a good sign that we are all healing and getting back to normal routines.

I am still having hormone issues. Major hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings etc.... doctors don't know what to do they have me on highest dose of enjuvia (estrogen). They are wanting me to try taking antidepressent pills said that surgical menopause can put your body in depressed mode. Not sure if I like the idea but may have to try it.

I am fully back to normal routine. I still get little aches and pains sometimes but I think it is my body telling me to slow down and take it easier. I forget about that and sometimes try to do too much.

Well sorry to run on and on just wanted to pop in and give an update. Hope all is getting better and better for all of you and can't wait to talk to you all on May 10th.

Hello! I sure fell off the posting wagon and didn't even know anyone else was posting until I got my "alert' that someone had posted on a thread I subscribed to. Funny how I haven't heard anything from Hystersysters for so long and I actually got a notice about another thread this week.

Elle - I know I owe you an email! I keep looking at yours in my inbox. I've been so busy I've neglected almost all personal email.

My life got pretty crazy pretty soon after the hyst because I started working for that arts council and we put on a conference in March. I'm still working for them doing follow-up work.

I almost feel like I never got any real recovery time having the surgery right before the holidays and going right into conference season.

In any case I'm feeling pretty good. Fat...but good. I so desperately need to get with an exercise program and eat less. I have gained 10 lbs since pre surgery!

I have no pain or swelling anymore but my ovulation is pretty intense and I have extreme mood swings when I would have had my period. Maybe I never noticed the mood swings because the pain was always so bad. I have had a little spotting after sex as well but it's getting less and less. It's a little painful too. Makes me not want to have it which my DH is not too thrilled about. Well...neither am I.

Has anyone one had periods of super increased libido? I have and it's a little freaky. I wish my body could cooperate with it.

One thing this hysterectomy has inspired in me is that I feel it's time to make a change in my life. I was always so immobilized by the pain and low energy that I had no energy except just to survive. So it looks like I'm going to go back to school in the fall and be a full time college student at 42 years old! I hear there is a decent amount of grant/scholarship $ for us older returning students. As we approach this recession I feel what better time is there for an artist to go back to school - no one is buying art!

Hello there, Its been a while since I have posted. I hope everyone is doing good. JG , I as well am on antihistamines. I have to take one every nite. It knocks me out. I used to be a lite sleeper; not anymore!! Spring has arrived!! I 'm so happy about it. We have gotten alot of rain . I go back to the Dr. in June. I am not going as much as I was. That is a plus. I am looking for a counselor though. I have alot of stuff I need to work through. I agree with Lenayogini that the Hyst. has been a life changing experience. It has a eye opener for me that things have to change. Well, I better get off here. Stay in touch Ladies. Take Care and God Bless!! and 's!!

Its Been A While!

I think I am back to normal - have been for some time. Either I am back to normal and focusing on my hip that I don't even think about the TAH/BSO. Since I have been through menopause already I am not suffering like some of you with the hormone issues - did that 5 years ago.

My hip replacment is scheduled for 6/9. Hopefully the surgery will not be too bad. I can tell you I am more scared of this one than the TAH/BSO. It will take 3-4 weeks to recover and then at least 8 week of Physical Therapy.

I know some of you are still having issues and I hope you will turn the corner soon and get back to your 'ol self soon.

I will be checking here regularly like always and for sure I will show up for our 6 month reunion on 5/10.

Hugs!

It's funny that you mention our 6 month reunion LadyDB, the other day I lay in bed thinking about it and then I all of a sudden thought: On May 10 it will only be 5 months and not 6! Isn't that funny??!! .....yes, do the math....it's really only 5!

But never mind....5 or 6.....it will be nice to get the whole club together again! So "see" you on May 10th!
