Doctor is still changing meds to find something that will help hormonal syptoms. Hubby is liking things more now that there is no worries LOL.
Hope Lady DB is recovering nicely will continue putting her in my prayers.

Hope everyone is well. I couldn't believe it's been 6 months when I got my notice today. I'm still feeling pretty good though having some other health issues and wonder if they are connected. I kept my ovaries but I think they are still pretty cranky to lose their uterus. I'm dancing with various diet changes and getting used to energy swings. Trying to exercise more.

I quit my job last week (or at least gave 8 weeks notice so they can find someone to cover the 6 classes I teach) and registered for school this fall. An undergraduate again at 42!

I'm now enjoying the warm weather here in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and preparing for yet another new chapter in my life! I'm so glad I had this surgery - a pain free life is where it's at!

Love and continued healing wishes....

hi everyone,
wow! its been 6months since the surgery and i feel good about doing it. if i had to do it all again i certainly would. i was reading some of the recent posts and i too still have the monthly mood swings but not the period, i start feeling the moodiness and for a brief moment i think "oh god where's my overnite maxi's and my super sized tampons! then i remember, and have a cup of coffee and smile. i do still have some soreness around the belly area. i've been trying to wear my girdle but i get sore after a while. but still i wouldn't trade that in for what i used to go through for nothing in the world!

its good to see that everyone is doing well and moving right along with life. i too need to start exercising because i gained weight as well. but all in good time. life is good right now.

Hi Everyone! I miss you guys. I am physically feeling okay but gained about five lbs and now am trying to lose it--it seems my whole shape has changed to bigger around the middle and smaller butt--doctor says it is loss of estrogen as I lost my ovaries and they never prescribed a replacement. Now I am on an estrogen patch that I change twice a week. It is helping a bit but I have hot flashes and night sweats still and my hair has lost its lustre and that makes me sad. Another big change is total loss of sexual desire---I have not told anyone about this yet and my husband probably senses this and I try to fake it but lately that is getting tougher to do. Anyone else feeling this? I also just had a bone density test and found out that I have osteopenia which is pre osteoporosis and that is not good due to lack of Vitamin D and lots of blood loss and iron over the years. So, have to go in to see what I can do to prevent further loss. And, I will be 50 this year and my body is like a 70 year old's in terms of bones and muscles and hair and skin losing its oomph so quickly and so fast. I get depressed a lot and seem to lose my temper quicker and cry more easily. I am seeing a specialist now for homones and menopause and thank goodness he put me on an estrogen patch, which my stupid arrogant woman hating surgeon didn't even think of. What is up with lack of care and info on women's health??? It is a crime against women. If I had known that this surgery would cause this much body and emotional hormonal change I would not have had it done. I prefer bleeding once a month to this. Anyways, I am alive and that is positive. I guess I just needed to vent here- sorry.

Re:tinylibrarian and others

Dear tinylibrarian, so sorry to hear you're not having a good experience and that your health is still getting you down. I have been struggling with anemia myself, but feel I'm finally coming out of that "black hole" of poor health.

I kept my ovaries, but was experiencing the lack of lusterous hair and no libido. I am not ready for the estrogen..just not to that point. I am trying a natural progesterone lotion (wild yams) that I found at the health food store. Too early to say if it's helping yet, but have heard good things about it.

On another note, I have been a poor sleeper for years. While at the health food store, I purchased a combination melatonin and valeria sleep aide call "Night time". I feel so rejuvenated. Definately recommending this to those who have trouble sleeping.!!

It was nice reading all the posts. I too have missed you all. God bless and take care.

Thank you love2savemoney--I am going to try the "night time" because I also have trouble sleeping since my operation too. The "wild yams" also sounds like something I could try here also. It is always great to get tips from others on these things. I hope you continue to be well! Keep in touch!
